It was up in the Rockies, that's why I thought ups may have provided them..I can't imagine anyone stupid enough to buy their own chains----but then again its the new UPS.
I don't care drivers have to deal with slippery conditions a handful of days every year, they are very well compensated. Significant snow effects my work positively on preload; I enjoy being paid to stand around while waiting for trailers. It just effects our job in that it is miserable to work in.

In Oregon, all package cars have a set of chains.

That's awesome!! It's funny, we wanna move to Oregon someday. Just one more reason on the pro list lolIn Oregon, all package cars have a set of chains.
If conditions are bad enough, chains are required and you can actually get a ticket for driving without them.
I have 2 full sets of chains in my package car, they are the heavy-duty PEWAG brand that are made in Austria. They are about $300 a set.
Is this the only supplement reference? Only reason I am asking is because where I work if we are sent out and called back in we still get our daily guarantee. If they call us and tell us to stay home we have to use personal time if we want to get paid.

Then the idea that if we get into an accident, we'll never hear the end of it.
Do any centers supply real chains btw? Mine only has cheater chains (I make sure to have at least 4 with me in winter). I've seen a PC in the mountains a while back with real chains, while on vacation, but wasn't able to ask the driver if the center supplied them or he bought them himself
I think you missed the question. In Oregon, all package cars have a set of chains.

He asked if UPS supplied the chains and I answered that all package cars in my state have a set.I think you missed the question.
$300 a set? No I don't think they would. Are you saying the company wouldn't spend $300 for a set of chains?
At $300 set?He asked if UPS supplied the chains and I answered that all package cars in my state have a set.

At $300 set?
Yes, they would. I have 2 sets in my package car. $75 chains might be OK for a passenger car but for a fully loaded package car you need heavy-duty chains. From time to time they have tried cheaper chains but they always wind up breaking. PEWAG brand chains are the only way to go.$300 a set? No I don't think they would.
