Pees in the brown Koolaid
It's astonishing, how some here so eagerly side with the Cambridge Police as the word of God, embracing an angry but innocent man's unconstitutional arrest within his own home/property.Yet when it comes to fear mongering rumors of Obama and the Police coming to your home to take your gun or arrest you, all of a sudden, the gov't/police is the enemy...."you'll have to pry that gun from my cold dead hands".....You know who you are out there.....
1. The arrest wasnt "unconstitutional". He was charged with the crime of disorderly conduct and duly arrested. The police had every legal right to be there because a crime had been reported and they had probable cause to investigate that crime. It wasnt a racial issue until Gates made it a racial issue....according to the testimony of the black officer who was there.
2. I dont think that Obama or the police are "coming to arrest me" or take my guns away....at least yet. Currently, gun ownership is a legal constitutional right and the police take an oath to uphold that constitution. I tend to agree with Obama on many issues and I believe him to be an honorable man but his documented voting record on 2nd Amendment issues is very poor and demonstrates a strong bias against the rights of gun owners, so it is quite reasonable for us as gun owners to be concerned that those rights will suffer under an Obama administration.
The bottom line is this; its time for the politics of racial victimization to end. We have a black President of the United States making comments about the arrest of a black Harvard professor witnessed by a black police officer. No one is being made to ride in the back of the bus anymore.
