Storming the Capitol

"Feb 18 (Reuters) - The founder of the Oath Keepers militia, Stewart Rhodes, will remain in jail until his seditious conspiracy trial for allegedly helping plot the assault on the U.S. Capitol, a U.S. judge said, calling him a "clear and convincing danger."

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta said during a Friday court hearing that Rhodes spent thousands of dollars on weapons and other equipment ahead of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol by Donald Trump's supporters and also made "substantial purchases" of weapons afterwards.

"He presents a clear and convincing danger, in my view," Mehta said."
Meanwhile the guy who attempted to assassinate a mayoral candidate in Louisville is out on bail.

First Jan. 6 defendant pleads guilty to seditious conspiracy in Capitol attack

"A member of the far-right Oath Keepers extremist group has become the first to admit to engaging in seditious conspiracy on Jan. 6, 2021, to keep President Biden from taking office.

Joshua James, 34, of Arab, Ala., pleaded guilty in federal court in Washington on Wednesday to helping lead a group that prosecutors say sent two tactically equipped teams into the Capitol and organized a cache of weapons in a hotel just outside the city. He also pleaded guilty to one count of obstructing an official proceeding, and he may face the stiffest sentence of any Jan. 6 defendant so far, according to preliminary sentencing guidelines.

As part of his plea, James agreed to cooperate with federal investigators, including testifying in front of a grand jury."

"The plea marks the first successful use of a sedition charge by federal prosecutors in decades. Federal law defines seditious conspiracy as two or more people who “conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States,” or act “by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States.”

And yet the ringleader, trump, is still walking around free inciting more violence.

I obviously don't like Trump but the hard left's bar for what's considered to be violence these days seems pretty low. So examples from @PT Car Washer probably would be helpful.
It's easy. If Leftists burn, loot, maim and murder in hundreds of locations it's mostly peaceful. If Right wingers scream their heads off at one location and break some windows but are unarmed it's a threat to the very existence of the republic.

What do you believe a coup is?
Where are the sedition charges?

"A North Carolina man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to conspiring with other members of the far-right Oath Keepers militia group to forcefully halt the peaceful transfer of power after President Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral victory.

William Todd Wilson, 44, of Newton Grove, North Carolina, is the third Oath Keepers member to plead guilty to a seditious conspiracy charge stemming from the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Brian Ulrich, 44, of Guyton, Georgia, pleaded guilty to the same charge last Friday. Joshua James, 34, of Arab, Alabama, was the first Oath Keepers member to plead guilty to seditious conspiracy.

Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, 55, of Granbury, Texas, and eight others linked to the group have pleaded not guilty to seditious conspiracy and other charges. A trial for some of them is scheduled to start in July."

You don’t know all the pressure feds can apply or what deals they cut people. Makes me laugh when people complain about people being in prison for some minor pot possession crimes. Like no those snitches who plead down or they had a great lawyer.
