That might be true but I was addressing the original poster who is a seasonal employee. He won't have 5 k in his account by the time he is shown the door .
The company isn't doing this because they want their employees to be responsible. They are doing it because the company has piss poor enrollment and contributions, which limits the higher income earners of the company on how much they can contribute. When you have extra income there are very few ways to keep yourself in a lower tax bracket, the 401K is one way to achieve this.
