I have mentioned nothing about civil war because I seriously doubt if that would occur. What I think is far more likely is that we have sham elections because one party has entrenched itself in power with a minority of voters.

Yet you advocate for the larger population centers of California and New York to dictate to the rest of the country based solely upon that abundant population. A simple majority invalidates equal representation when applied to the United STATES of America.

Majorities in each state get to run that state, not run other states. You want control of the U.S. Senate? Give Red Staters something to vote for. Or move to those states in sufficient numbers.

I really like Asimov but his idea of Intellectualism is a smart, well-read person sitting around and thinking things up.
His ideas of the future projected many things that came true but many, many more that did not.
When it comes to Social and Governmental change, I prefer smart people relying on empirical knowledge acting in incremental steps.

I don't support insulting the intelligence of voters because I don't think it is ignorance per se, but I don't know what it is either. I think in America it is tied up with republican voters identifying with republicans as sort of like an ethnic identity, but I don't know if that's right either.
