Part of the problem is Martha's Vinyard is so small and an island. Martha's Vinyard could be the reddest red place in America. 100% white. 100% Christian. 100% employed middle class blue collar all owning guns, pickup trucks and home schooled. EV cars outlawed. 100% straight.
And if you flew in two planeloads of white Christian people with no idea of where they were going and no money you'd have the same challenges of housing, feeding etc.
