The End May be Near

Ugh! Just learned that our new PM manager is a woman who once worked at our station as a CSA, then went somewhere else to manage dispatch. She’s got about two weeks of on road experience and was very unliked at our location. When she left we had a party and a cake the day after she was gone. She’s incapable of managing a desk drawer, let alone other people.

In any case, I suppose I’m obligated to give her a chance. But I’m not hopeful. I can either ask (beg) the SM to assign me a different manager, switch to AM (which I’d really rather not) or leave. Yucko!

as a general rule, I disagree. I’ve had three women managers. Two were terrible. The third was the best manager I’ve had.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

So, she hasn’t quite taken over the reigns completely yet. Probably by next week. One interesting thing is she doesn’t wear a uniform. I asked about it and she said ops managers aren’t required to wear them. I can believe it, but it’s the first time I’ve heard that. I guess she won’t be unloading too many trucks.

Is she hot?

Ugly and miserable though? That’s at least a daily double.
That’s a fact, alright. She’s managed customer service reps. Never drivers. For the past two weeks she’s been learning the PM sort. She goes solo on that next week. I’m glad that I don’t do much more than back up and unlock the doors for the package handlers.

Sounds like a DEI hire.

The truth is she was one of many (too many) managers at a huge station. Can’t say where (Boston). We’ve been short a manager for almost a year. They had to pare down. She got picked, supposedly, on the basis of least seniority. But it seems clear that they wanted to get rid of her. The district director told our SM that she’s our new ops mgr. Manure really does flow downhill.
