The first day of the 118th Congress ended Tuesday without a Speaker of the House

He had to make so many concessions to the Rad Right that all he has left is the gavel.
Among the many concessions he had to make to the Rad Right was that any spending increase in one area had to be meet with a corresponding reduction in another. That is all well and good until September when the federal spending authorization expires.

In the meantime we don't know if Putin along with his Iranian and Belarussian allies are going to undertake an all in Battle of the Bulge style final assault in Western Europe. Perhaps Kim will want to show South Korea and Japan who's boss. And given the way China is cuffing Taiwan around we could find ourselves in the biggest naval battle since the Philippine Sea. Perhaps all at once.

Then too, the people in the South know what late summer means from a weather perspective. What it's going to cost to rebuild the Gulf Coast following this years hurricane when we haven't finished totaling up the bills from last year's hurricane.

And since many of the Rad Right congressional members are from the South we'll see what they have to say after the hurricanes, tornados, floods and droughts gets done with their districts.

Were you of that same opinion before you had that emergency heart operation that saved your life?
Wasn't government money that paid for it. But it was tax dollars that you were willing to give to people making up to $125k a year. You must be really worried that the Repubs are going to turn the cash spigot off huh?

Supposedly Matt Gaetz bypasses other reps and will get a “gavel” leadership position on the Armed Forces committee. That sounds great.
Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., the most recent Rules Committee chair, said that putting three Freedom Caucus members on the panel, which is typically split 7 to 4 between the parties, could thwart the new speaker’s ambitions.

“The reason these people want to be on the Rules Committee is they want to screw things up for McCarthy. They want to micromanage every single thing that he brings to the floor,” McGovern said. “He has given everything away, including his dignity, to try to become speaker. And if he becomes speaker, his nightmares just begin.”

“He thinks this is bad — what he’s going through right now? He ain’t seen nothing yet, based on what he’s giving away.”

And among the concessions was a rule along the lines where it will only take a single vote to remove him from speaker. Wouldn't that be something. The largest number of votes in recent history to become speaker and in the end the shortest serving speaker in recent history.

Oh my god it is the end of the Republic…. Actually, all of these negotiated things are pretty great. And really show that McCarthy is just another turd in the Punchbowl because he never planned on doing them.

“He shared with me a list of some of what has been roughly negotiated to date.

  1. As has been reported, it will only take a single congressperson, acting in what is known as a Jeffersonian Motion, to move to remove the Speaker if he or she goes back on their word or policy agenda.
  2. A “Church” style committee will be convened to look into the weaponization of the FBI and other government organizations(presumably the CIA, the subject of the original Church Committee) against the American people.
  3. Term limits will be put up for a vote.
  4. Bills presented to Congress will be single subject, not omnibus with all the attendant earmarks, and there will be a 72-hour minimum period to read them.
  5. The Texas Border Plan will be put before Congress. From The Hill: “The four-pronged plan aims to ‘Complete Physical Border Infrastructure,’ ‘Fix Border Enforcement Policies,’ ‘Enforce our Laws in the Interior’ and ‘Target Cartels & Criminal Organizations.'”
  6. COVID mandates will be ended as will all funding for them, including so-called “emergency funding.”
  7. Budget bills would stop the endless increases in the debt ceiling and hold the Senate accountable for the same.”

All of which will require spending cuts in key programs which will only have support until it negatively impacts the lives of those who currently support those cuts.

It was a process that required hospitals to provide charity care paid for by means of over charging for services and passing those costs back to insurers who were left with no other choice but to raise subscriber premiums. Do you support the elimination of this requirement?

Imagine a system where you get the service or product first and negotiate the price later.

What do you mean....no accountability? We have the CBO, OMB CAO and the Comptroller General. And you claim there's no accountability?
Please supply me with some more rubberstamp organizations. And I suppose you think the FBI is a great organization too. Absolutely no need to investigate them.🙄

May I suggest that the house and senate have to cut their own funding to pay for the millions of dollars for all the investigations that are to come

10 or 11 different committees to investigate the entire Biden Crime Family and all the things Hunter Biden did wrong will be expensive.

Political tit for tat is pretty silly but it’s what you guys wanted. Hopefully these “public servants” will be too busy chasing their tails to create a more chaos for the real people.

And now they will try and trash the economy. Thanks My Kevin.
