I was raised on Tabasco but went to an authentic Thai restaurant and they asked how spicy did I want it? Told them as spicy as possible, love it hot. That was the hottest food I ever ate. I sweated buckets!
Never ever get the hottest Thai food you can you will regret it lol! And I love spicy hot food! Thai hot spicy is a different level.

Never know with you if you're serious or joking. If you were here you'd know how silly your question is. Yah, Cambodia is a black hole where old fart expats disappear all the time LOL!
Online search, first article is from Reuters...
"Hundreds of thousands of people have been trafficked by criminal gangs and forced to work in scam centres and illegal online operations across ... Cambodia, Thailand."

Cambodian People's Party (CPP) was born out of communism, and is cooperative with Chinese criminal "gangs".

Since you are fond of movies, watch The Killing Fields for a glimpse of Cambodia's past.
(You may have heard of it.)

Yes, and there's nothing like that going on in plain sight here. Cambodia has advanced. Well stocked supermarkets. Nice movie theaters playing along with Asian movies the latest big American movies in English. Western food restaurants everywhere with about every cuisine represented. They're more interested these days in attracting millions of tourists to their national treasures like Angkor Wat. And they make it extremely easy for retirees to live here.

You may have heard of the American West. Once upon a time primitive tribes and outlaws roamed it, killing people. There are American gangs today trafficking drugs and people and killing people who get in the way. Cambodia's murder rate is a small fraction of the U.S. rate. And the U.S. is ridiculously expensive while here I can get a nice, modern studio apartment for less than $300 a month and $5 meals in restaurants. Sitting in a coffeehouse right now having a large coffee for $3. We even have a Starbucks here but they're more expensive. Figures.

P.S. One thing that really stands out is young adults treat old guys like me extremely well. With respect. Been here 7 weeks and have yet to encounter one rude person. Pretty much an almost every day occurrence in the States running into someone who's rude, arrogant, condescending, obnoxious.

In the United States, we don’t value older people. Matter of fact, we like to put them in a place called the old folks home and disappear them.

No too many UPS retirees moving to Cambodia? Why is that?
Not sure if that’s true or not. And I have no way of knowing for sure. I do, however, know a few retired drivers I worked with have moved out of the country. Costa Rica and Bali I believe.

Wife with you?
I haven't seen her since November 2020. We talk once in a blue moon on Messenger. She recently got fired after snapping at a customer. It was her third strike. On unemployment and she's got a mortgage. So may be seeing her soon because she's 63 and can't find a job.
