The Trump administration was handed another win on Thursday after a federal judge ruled that everyone in the U.S. illegally must register with the federal government and carry documentation.

The Associated Press reported that Judge Trevor Neil McFadden, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, sided with the administration after arguing it was enforcing an existing requirement for everyone in the country who is not a citizen of the U.S.

they've got to get someone to take him, he's an el salvadorian that they may not be able to send to el salvador

lot of these early supreme court decisions seem to focus more on the process of the cases rather than the merits.

This requirement also applies to Canadian snowbirds.

these are the kind of cases that drive me nuts. this requirement is already in place.
even the legal green card holders are required to carry their alien registration card and update their address information anytime they move.
this should have never been allowed to be challenged in court

I don’t know why the right wing thinks that following the law here is the wrong course of action. Dude is still going to end up getting deported.

Because Trump fans want to believe that he can't make mistakes. It's more comfortable for them to say the Supreme Court is wrong here than to see Trump bring the guy back from El Salvador because a mistake was made.

i didnt see that specific argument being made here . there are those pesky constitutional powers and laws that do appear to support the presidents right to make those decisions. Its a little bit more involved then simple trump worship:

Article II, Section 1 vests the president with executive power, which courts have interpreted to include broad discretion over foreign affairs and border security, often tied to immigration enforcement.

Article II, Section 3 requires the president to "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed," meaning they must enforce immigration laws passed by Congress, like those governing entry, deportation, or naturalization.

In addition the secretary of state has broad powers to grant and deny visa's in the US at his discretion.

this is not a simple maga issue but one with a solid foundation in laws supported by the constitution.

He’s an illegal, and he shouldn’t be here.

But he needs to be brought back and given the due process required by law.

I’d also say this is a good reason not to use prisons outside our jurisdiction.

Indeed. The Trump Administration still made a mistake. That's why the guy is coming back.

Are you certain about that? It was determined he faced possible harm if deported to his home country, El Salvador, and I don't know if asylum was finalized but he was at least in that process when ICE grabbed him. The administration admitted it was a mistake but say they have no control over it now. If he is returned it's likely he'll get asylum based on what he was just put through.

is he? the supreme court didnt say he has to come back they said the trump administration has to try to get him back.

the supreme court said that the lower courts effort to force the trump adminstration to bring him back overstepped their authority.

they actually admonished the lower court for trying to force the trump administration to bring him back

If I take $8 from you and then give you back $6, you’re not up $6…
if he sells his stock wednesday at 355 he's up 2900. If he sold it the day before he's down a bunch.
if he doesn't sell it at all and rides it out he neither gains nor loses until he decides to sell it.

the one thing thats also clear that no one is mentioning here is that no court supreme or otherwise has jurisdiction over a non citizen that is not physically in this country . This is a case that should have been rejected by all courts for standing
