THE TRUMP 2024 THREAD

If they really wanted to solve the immigration problem they would be cracking down harder on the farms and other businesses who hire them

It is not a requirement to I-9 an independent contractor. And it is not illegal to 1099 an illegal immigrant.

Isn't that cute?

There has never been an administration in my adult life that handles the excessive immigration problem to my satisfaction.

A good start would've been to not do an unprecedented thing like letting in over 12 million people in four years. Instead should've been focused on removing the illegals that were already here. Should've strengthened the legal immigration system that let in a million a year. We already.had enough issues with illegals committing crime before we opened the doors and saw a spike in crime from the criminals who came in with the rest. An issue that the Left refuses to address. And screams racism when someone tries to address it.

If there was no need for immigrants, Trump of all people wouldn’t be offering immigrants who work on “farms, hotels and other places” an opportunity to stay
Again what trump is proposing is leave first, then go through the immigration screening process. in many countries there is so much interest that eligible go through a final lottery type selection once they have qualified. Trumps proposal would allow farmers to vouch for those specific workers that apply once they have returned.

you seem to be trying to make this sound nefarious when its consistent with the demand to follow the legal immigration process.

Wow quiet here since a few Chicken Littles are silenced. Thanks for the link. Now I can keep up with how horrible things are and how Trump is going to destroy the world. Without Dems keeping things straight I would think things were going great.

Nope.

It's a 'don't ask, don't tell' sorta thing.

It is illegal to 'knowingly' hire an illegal immigrant in any capacity.

With independent contractor or 1099 employment it is not a requirement to 'ask' or inquire upon a person's immigration status because that pesky I-9 form is not required.

Anyways, that's how I interpreted the law when I finally bothered to look it up several years ago when I became an employer.

Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am. But I don't think so.

It was 1999 or Y2K when something caught my eye while I was shopping.

I noticed that ordinary consumer products in hardware stores began to be prominently labeled and advertised in English and Spanish.

I'm not talking about that practically useless little instruction pamphlet folded like an accordion and in six different languages that is tucked away in the packaging that blows away in the wind and practically disintegrates as soon as it's discovered.

In the immediate following years this bilingual labeling practice began to creep and became more pervasive. And now we have what we have presently.

Looking back, it should have crossed my mind right there and then that it really is all about displacement and replacement.

Although this development is very highly amusing to me, something important is lost.

Without liberals to debate with this forum will become boring.

Then the fun will really begin when we start eating each other.
We've had plenty of that already. Luckily conservatives are hard to digest.
