I have to say I am not impressed with the way Trump waffles on the tariffs. All he has done is make countries know they can just wait out any tariff that is put on them. I think back to what my mother used to to say about raising a child. She said never threaten to do a punishment and then not go through with it because after a couple times your child will not even pay attention to your threats. I think we are at that point with Trump’s tariff threats.

Could be a helpful show of force during the ongoing nuclear talks with Iran. Think I heard we've been hitting some pretty deep Houthi bunkers.
Or it could actually be meant for Iran with the Houthis serving as a convenient excuse.
We did hear this kind of thing before we went into Iraq in 2003.....

He put the stick out there then dangled the carrot. The other countries know the stick is still out there if they don't take the carrot. We need patience.
sounds like the wage progression scheme at FedEx. every year the stick got longer no carrots
Doesn't sound like it at all. It's negotiations. FedEx didn't have to negotiate with us, just string us along. But Trump very much wants to iron out agreements where we gain access to markets that we were shut out of or greatly restricted. The stick is the tariffs they'll get if they don't accept the carrot which is equal access.
