Appointed stewards have their priorities straight for the most part. Weeds out those that are only in it for the OT, saving union dues or looking for favors from management.
How so? And you realize, depending on what the local bylaw say there is no payment for steward. We don’t receive any money at this local, no free dues, we are elected.

Actually, it helps make sure the stewards are not in the back pocket of the local or management. They can be voted out.

You were not terminated for exceeding the 2 years. The Company met the contract by allowing you to work inside for 2 years under Article 16. You were terminated because you were only guaranteed 2 years. It is now past 2 years and you still do not have your driving privileges reinstated by the DMV.

He was classified as a driver who got his driving privileges revoked ( permanently not temporarily ) Now he's saying because he stayed inside past the 2 year maximum. Ups is obligated to reclassify him as a inside worker. If he digs Johnny Cochran up and convince him to take the case he might have a chance.

In my local we were reimbursed our union dues. The overtime whores who were just in it for the money never attended a union meeting or steward seminar. They couldn't represent a member worth a :censored2: and the members quickly learned to find alternative representation.
If a local that appoints stewards finds they're not doing a good enough job I would assume they could pull the appointment.
