Homeless veterans.
There shouldn’t be homeless veterans in this country.
I bet if they really checked them out 95% of those "Homeless Veterans" aren't Veterans---just wanna bees. Any truly "homeless Vet" could walk into any VFW or Am. Legion and get all kinds of help getting back on their feet. The large % of people who are homeless don't want help and prefer to live their druggy lifestyle. The homeless around here are so screwed up they don't even head south for the winter.

My Brother-in-law has been Commander or Assistant Commander of the local VFW for a long time. When they have some one come in asking for few bucks or a hand out because they are a "homeless Vet' they take the person by the hand and TRY to walk them 3 blocks down to the County Veterans Service Office at the Courthouse. The majority of the time the person will refuse and walk out because they know they are going to have to show proof of being a Vet. All it takes is for the Service Officer to look up and see if they have a DD 214-------your military service record.

I didn't realize how important that DD-214 was when I left service but luckily I kept mine.

When I was in Minneapolis, I was shocked how many tent cities there were. How They survive the winter?

The idiots here drop like flies in the summer, so drugged out they lay on the sidewalk in 118 degree heat and die.

Still have mine…But I never applied for VA medical benefits, got out in 1976…I did use the old GI Bill while in College..
I never did either until it became apparent that we may lose our pension. My Brother-in-law talked me into checking out what benefits I was entitled to. That was like 15 years ago. Being I was able to prove I was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam I was automatically given a 20% disability. I could have been getting that for just about all the time I worked at UPs but never checked it out. Since then my disability has risen to 70% due to different things that have been attributed to Agent Orange. It makes for a nice monthly check (tax free) but in the long run I would rather be healthy. I never used the GI Bill for College or to buy a house even though I would have qualified for it.

My father was exposed to Agent Orange and died young. We couldn't prove it was the cause but we all thought it was a contributing factor. He did die before they started paying disability for it (1981)

So sorry about your Dad. It was some nasty stuff and is now associated with many cancers and many other medical problems. I lost an older Brother when he was way too young due to asbestos exposure while he was in the Navy so it just isn't Agent Orange.

The voters of Vermont must like the way things are. That is why they keep electing liberals.
Lots of otherwise conservative places in the US that have things so good they think they can dabble in fantasy leftist principles and eat their cake without realizing the rest of the country is literally going to :censored2: and they're eventually next

Having lived in an area that changed like that, you look back and wonder HURRR HOW DID THAT HAPPEN
