You awake yet? Markets are up in Asia and Europe. Our market futures have a pretty high implied opening for our stock markets. Hmmm, I wonder why? What could it be, what could it be?

Seems some people are thinking Trump won’t actually go through with the tariff increases on top of the 10% base tariffs tomorrow. Guess we’ll see.

"China said Tuesday it would “fight to the end” and take countermeasures against the United States to safeguard its own interests after President Donald Trump threatened an additional 50% tariff on Chinese imports.

The Commerce Ministry said the U.S.‘s imposition of “so-called ‘reciprocal tariffs’” on China is “completely groundless and is a typical unilateral bullying practice.”

China, the world’s second-largest economy, has announced retaliatory tariffs and the ministry hinted in its latest statement that more may be coming.

“The countermeasures China has taken are aimed at safeguarding its sovereignty, security and development interests, and maintaining the normal international trade order. They are completely legitimate,” the ministry said.

“The U.S. threat to escalate tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake and once again exposes the blackmailing nature of the U.S. China will never accept this. If the U.S. insists on its own way, China will fight to the end,” it added."

Ok, well, YOLO then. Let's do this thing.
I think i said it before i've been a fan of switching to a system of consumption taxes and eliminating the payroll taxes.

I'm new to the concept of funding the government by trade revenue which i think Trump is ultimately trying to get to.
there is a lot to it that makes sense. I think the first stage would ultimately result in removing the lower tier taxpayer from the taxpayer roles.

for me its a fascinating change of direction and an education. for too long we've had one solution to revenue that being to stick it to the taxpayer. Its an incredibly complicated transition. I don't know if Trump has enough time to get it done.

Is Trump looking to fund the government with tariffs or negotiate tariffs down to zero?

it appear those penquins have been more productive than our liberal friends thought .

The Heard Island and McDonald Islands (HIMI), an Australian external territory located in the sub-Antarctic Indian Ocean, are uninhabited and have no permanent human population or significant economic infrastructure. As a result, they do not engage in conventional trade in the way populated regions do. However, recent discussions around U.S. tariffs imposed in April 2025 have brought attention to reported trade figures, which appear to stem from mislabeled or misinterpreted data.
According to available information, the U.S. Census Bureau and World Bank data have recorded small amounts of trade with HIMI in recent years. Specifically, the U.S. reportedly imported $1.4 million USD worth of goods from the islands in 2022, primarily categorized as "machinery and electrical" products. In the five years prior (2017–2021), annual U.S. imports from HIMI ranged between $15,000 and $325,000 USD. For 2023, exports to the U=myriad were valued at approximately $413,000 USD, while imports from the U.S. were around $21,600 USD. In 2024, U.S. imports from HIMI were reported at $200,000 USD, with exports to the islands remaining minimal or unspecified.

Tariffs on China vs tariffs on the whole world based on made up foreign tariff numbers.
lol , you're having a hard time with this aren't you? you do realize that if you come up with a new way of doing things that you may need a new way to measure what has been done and what you want to achieve?

This is absolutely true:
tariffs on the whole world based on made up foreign tariff numbers

Musk Calls Trump’s Trade Adviser a ‘maroon’

"Elon Musk continued his spat with Peter Navarro, President Trump’s top adviser on trade policy, saying in a social-media post that Navarro “is truly a maroon.”

Musk’s retort came after Navarro said in a TV interview Monday that Musk—the chief executive of Tesla, one of the world’s largest makers of electric vehicles—is a “car assembler.” Navarro also said that the component parts of Musk’s vehicles are made overseas.

“Tesla has the most American-made cars. Navarro is dumber than a sack of bricks,” Musk responded Tuesday. In a separate social-media post, he called Navarro “Peter Retarrdo,” referencing the common slur for a person with a mental or intellectual disability."

Elon is the head of DOGE. His job in that capacity has been to directly advise Trump. So his calling Trump's top advisor on trade policy "Peter Retarrdo" and "dumber than a sack of bricks" does seem newsworthy.
