Sure I can agree with that but to say everyone in the IBT is corrupt is ridiculous. To say anyone is better than a whole slate because of one mans mistakes is just silly. This is the old "throwing the baby out with the bath water" analogy and does more harm than good. It is the battle cry for TDU thus far from a solution and more like a Coup d'etat.
I'm not condemning anyone or the union as a whole
.
The fact is that the IBT has been under IRB scrutiny for years and there's evidently a reason (or multiple ones) for it.
Other unions, when the members are considering to vote in the Teamsters as representation, use the IRB oversight of our Union to try to keep their sheep in their pen.
Perception is key and so even with IRB oversight looming and the Teamsters on the verge of shedding that scrutiny why do some folks still push the envelope and the Union as a whole takes the hit in the public's mind and it greatly hampers organizing efforts at times.
Those charges, my friend, if validated, shows utter stupidity and since it's leadership folks involved and indicted it again validates the "corrupt legacy" as continuing.
When honest hard working members fail to see growth in their union (which we desperately need!) partly due to this issue they should be outraged instead of shrugging it off as business as usual.
