Upcoming 401(k) Changes

Why would anyone unionize against FredEx? Don’t you watch the Frontline videos? Some poll that no one has ever heard of ranked FredEx as one of the “most respected companies in the world.” That prestige is worth than the difference in pay.

Oh, I believe it. When I would talk to the old timers, it sounded like it used to be a truly excellent company to work for. That couldn’t have been further from the truth from 2016- present

MF would always bark about that poll and about how wonderful the company was years ago. Still a shame you two can't double up on us.

And if you look back to the early 20th century, those auto workers had to literally fight hard to unionize.
Would you like to compare working conditions now to those from 100 years ago?

The fact that FedEx now is using their "last mile optimization" that should blur the lines claiming FedEx is still an airline when they're using their Ground network to make Express deliveries.
How does reducing the ground ops of Express weaken the fact that they're an airline??? Seriously, you guys are smoking crack.

Why do you take it personally when people criticize a lousy company to work for?
Because he knows it's a lousy company himself but playing spin doctor is a big part of his job. When he went crawling back Fat Freddy would only take him back after he spent a full year at the academy.

I’ve read about changes coming to the 401(k) plan next year. I think we’ll be able to choose between keeping our pensions along with no change to the level FedEx matches our 401(k) contributions OR getting an eight percent match and ending future pension contributions.

Does anyone know anything more?

Quit referring to the PPA as a "pension" because it is NOT an effing pension, but a CRAP annuity that is worth about 1/4 of the lousy Traditional Pension (long gone). Teamsters get a REAL pension that is worth more than double the former FedEx "real" pension. We're talking 6-7k per month.

While you're "discussing" this potential change, ask a FedEx pilot what their pensions are like. I know 12 FedEx pilots (retired and current) well enough to call them friends and none of them will ever, ever talk about what they're getting. They all live very well off Fat Freddo.

Why didn't you become a FDX pilot instead of a whiny asz bitch.

Why would I take anyone's opinion about FedEx personally? I have no more reason to do that than you do to take it personally when I point out what a good company it is to work for.

They're a trucking company with an airline component, just like UPS. Both systems integrators, which is well over your head OF.
Oddly enough, the federal government has never, ever, even just once, come to such a conclusion in over 40 years of decisions about FedEx.

So it's four decades of precedent vs. a village idiot's talking point.

Because management has pestered him to take a leadership position but he didn't because he has too much integrity and he could have stayed with UPS and made more money but he didn't and whatever other excuses he can conjure up.

Good money, decent benefits, no heavy lifting, can work from home almost as much as I want, the work offers personal and professional development and growth.
Oh, you think that’s an accurate portrayal of most of the positions within the company? Or is this your way of saying “if everyone was as smart as me, they could have my job?”

I've said it before. Anyone of reasonable intelligence and a decent work ethic could do this job and do it as well as me, if not better. Anyone who enjoys challenges and higher levels of responsibility and accountability would be crazy not to pursue those opportunities.

Is it an accurate portrayal of most of the positions within the company? No idea, probably not. Most people in the company are willing to settle for less compensation in exchange for positions with minimal levels of responsibility.
