Upcoming 401(k) Changes

Just telling it like it is
The unions and most employees see things differently. The employees who are most unhappy will just leave for something better and the unions aren't going to fight for the support of employees who have the option of finding better work (which is most people).
Lame excuse.

Comments from the company's foremost authority when it comes to not having any balls.
He has to talk up the company every chance he gets because without FredEx, he’s just an insecure little boy. Unfortunately for him, he’s seen as exactly that anyway because no one other than him gives a damn about his status within the company.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Rest assured he definitely doesn't have the balls to do what you're doing . At age 30 leaping as far away as one can get from one segment of the economy into one that is as far removed from the first as one can get.

Oh, and I’m not even trying to elevate myself. There’s nothing special about sitting in front of a classroom all day. What I don’t understand is what exactly I’m supposed to find so impressive about him

Do you think such things would still exist today were it not for unions? I mean, there's a whole field of formal study dedicated to such things.
I know there are centuries of evidence that prove otherwise; up to the start of the labour movement.

Well the 3.5% match and 5% is slightly more than 8%, but you can probably make that up with higher on average growth rate of 401k. That being said if you are older you might be eligible to get a higher pension contribution, but it is unreasonably high. I started at 21 and I would have to stay until 47 to get to 6%.

That being said, the money in your ppa grows at least a very safe 4% rate... you can’t really get that in the market as far as I know in bonds or anything. So I’m going to stay in. As long as I can. You’re probably only at 10k because I assume you started part time. I’m at 7.5 years and I think I’m at 12k and that is with a couple part time years.

Got 37 in the 401k, but I aggressively contribute past the match to it. Also 11.5 in a Roth which I have to scrounge upon another 4K before April to contribute to =\.

Absolutely nothing. He is an accident of birth. Born at a time when if you were healthy had an H.S. diploma ,able to learn and was fairly dependable there was a respectable place for you in the economy of his era... Not so in today's economy. He's just too ignorant to know it. His skill and education level in today's economy would leave him struggling to stay above the poverty line.

I like how he thinks getting a white collar job at FedEx is something prestigious.
I don't think there's anything prestigious about it. In fact, I said that any reasonably intelligent person with a good work ethic could do it as well as I do, if not better. Is that why you associate it with prestige? Because it's beyond your ability?

No one expects you to be impressed, so I don't understand where you got the idea that you should be impressed.

The fact that you're bringing up the prestige (or lack thereof) of my job and why you should/shouldn't be impressed with me says more about you than me, because you're the only one who ever cared about either.
