Opting out of the insurance has been thrown around a lot and could be a big selling point to lots of part timers. I never disagreed with you on that, my point was if the company gave part timers a $5 raise and then ask for $90 for insurance it would just wash out
I understand that, but the "opt-out" part doesn't make sense to me. It's just being too divisive, which is why I don't talk about it. I am talking about forgoing full-time medical benefits for wages. Yes it does wash out, that was the point.

I think this idea has been in many proposals but the Teamsters want that benefit money left intact.

Why even worry about new hires? We should be focusing those raises on part-timers who actually have seniority than waste it on the hordes of new-hire part-timers that wash out after the first couple years
