I have read this thread and happen to work in the same building as Option3. I can tell you from personal experience in over 11 years I have seen a whole lot of the rainbows and unicorn managers. That lasts in our building for about a week maybe two. Our building is as cut throat as any in the country and it all starts with management. Let me just say that in our building managers have been caught releasing a parking break during an observation then claiming the driver didnt engage it only to have the driver walk customers out who saw management undo it. We have had managers unhook hood latches then write a driver up for pulling into the yard to pretrip. We have had drivers find leaking packages without markings be told to double bag and keep going, when the driver had no bags he was instructed to buy garbage bags. Have seen managers tell an employee they will fire him and make sure they hold him out long enough to get his house foreclosed on. Wed morning I watched a senior full time supervisor go on an obscenity laced tirade at an entire PD hourly and management where no less than 15-20 friend-bombs were dropped. One driver was rear ended and charged with the accident, another was backed into and charged with the accident. I have seen one driver get three observations in a two week span then get warning letters that were lies, so much so they were retracted by management. I have seen one supervisor from an outside building come in and call the 1-800 number for the way he was treated by a center manager. In my 11+ years at UPS I have had 16 center managers and 68 on-roads. So if Option3 or myself seem a little distrusting of management I can assure you we get it honest. When you have been told that they "Care" a hundred times only to have someone bury a knife, you start swinging a BIG stick and daring anyone to try...

Oh and the "I would never do that" guy.... LOL seen that said about two weeks before they fire their first driver for some made up crap that is not in line with the contract. Im sure the supervisors that said it at the time really did mean it. But when employee A has ticked off Manager B then Manager B tells Supervisor C that either you or employee A are leaving supervisor C sings a different tune. If corporate knew half of what went on in our building they would have to shut it down because there would be no managers to run it... You would literally have to fire 2/3 of the supervisors immediately.

What caused management to ride on the dark side of the rainbow and upset all the unicorns in fairyland (that would be your building)!

What have the unicorns done to upset everyone? Its a two way street on the rainbow.

Now do not get mad I am not attacking you, just asking a question.

After reading Nicky's post, I saw plenty of reasons that the hourlies can't trust (this) management team. Me personally, if employees need to be disciplined there is a process that we use(progressive discipline). If management is deliberately doing these things and being dishonest, call the hot line. I think this kind of activity from the-management team should not be allowed to continue.

The District Manager was insane.... I know of instances where DM was throwing furniture and trashcans at managers who didnt do as they were told. One center manager walked out on teh spot... BTW I would love to hear any justification for releasing a parking brake. What is it that a driver could have done to warrant that? What do I as a driver have to do for you as a manager to justify a possible rollaway? Sad thing is it was a new on road who was just promoted from driving. He had 0 backbone and was told to go after the driver by center manager... I ran a route that is impossible to run scratch on ran like 1.5 hours over allowed, my on road pulled telematics and could find no major gaps that would explain the over allowed. Was still told by DM that I had to be reprimanded... Yep totally, the drivers fault. I was once sent out in a truck that they didnt assign to a loader until 30 minutes prior to my start so he got about 50% of the work in and they threw the rest in the back told me it was my problem... While you are worried about making some utopian number to justify your own employment I and those like me are the ones out there dealing with the real world, so if I deliver my packages, and do it safely I couldnt give two left testicles about your numbers.

I would also love to hear justification for trying to get another humans house foreclosed on... I for one cant wait for that threat, I have some of my own. Remember I am allowed to give the same level of respect that I am shown.

Nicky.....Dragon believes there are times when they are justified in screwing with people's lives like that....he is management....he has said so. He has also said that he is a nice guy, and to not judge him by what he says on here....you ever heard that one in your building?

I think the on roads are Unicorns...I’m just a little leprechaun adding to my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow

What sad is in my experience the ones that get the most grief from management are often the ones who are the most unstable. I know of one driver who has a bug out bag complete with weapons and ammo for himself and his entire family as well as a hiding spot picked out in another state and this guy gets ridden by management on a regular basis... This is the type of guy that you worry will be the next Birmingham yet management goes right on. We have one route that has led to three separate drivers having a breakdown on route... Yet they refuse to lighten the load, we had a driver get mugged and the on road told him to stay there even though the firefighters were trying to take him to the hospital. The LT from teh fire dept eventually gets on the phone to tell them where they will be able to find their driver. I tell everyone who asks to stay as far away from this company as they can. While I know my experience may not be typical, it certainly isnt getting any better which makes me question those higher up. Its numbers at any cost with this company and the service that we love to talk about is secondary with a drivers safety coming in a distant third.

You sir are old school. Used to be supes were more like coaches and mentors. They would often trust drivers to make their own decisions. Now they seem to more like enforcers of yet another ridiculous metric. There are a few good ones out there but even they tend to be in self-preservation mode.
That's how the sups treated me when I was an hourly, and I don't intend to ruin the trust that has been built over many years.
It appears Frigid works in one of those old forgotten small centers that are not on the radar yet.
Luckily we're small enough to not get noticed. Though we are getting Orion soon, so that may change...
I want my management team to do their job, follow the contract, and not play favorites.
I can be friendly and still follow the contract. I respect the contract. That is our deal with each other. It existed long before I showed up and long after I'm gone. I don't intend to mess with it.
If there is ever a issue or grievance I would expect you to follow the contract...... I would think your job that you've now made everybody friends would become strained. I really don't think if you manipulated and treated your guys like crap you would talk about it on this site just because nobody knows who you are.
It can be tough to have crack down on certain things. I mean I trained pretty much everybody on my sort when I was an hourly. But the thing is they know my expectations and they know we have goals that need to be hit. I don't talk down to people. When something gets screwed up we discuss how we can prevent it from happening again. And we have yet to have multiple instances. I talk with my guys, not down to them.

68 on roads :O. My goodness. I can't figure out someone doesn't sit down and say "What the hell is going on there?"
LOL seen that said about two weeks before they fire their first driver for some made up crap that is not in line with the contract.
Well I can't exactly fire a driver. They don't work for me. Like I said before, it is really difficult to get fired from my center. I have not seen anybody fired in my time there.
I would also love to hear justification for trying to get another humans house foreclosed on... I for one cant wait for that threat, I have some of my own. Remember I am allowed to give the same level of respect that I am shown.
How exactly can sups get someone foreclosed on? We aren't a bank.

By firing the driver then deadlocking it at panel and holding the driver out of work long enough to get his house taken... Saw it happen first hand. We get fired all the time, it usually lasts about a day or two a week at most and then there are some guys that they hold out 6 months only to give the driver full back pay.

Oh and just wait till you get Orion it is the STUPIDEST thing we have done to date. We now have to take a heavy traffic street instead of the interstate because it saved 3 miles. Lets not factor in that I used to sit through 10 red lights and get to area 10 minutes later... Oh and if its not set up right, and it wont be you will be forced to work backwards through a neighborhood. But the very best part is when your truck is full down teh center and Orion wants you to bounce around between shelves to make deliveries.... I have said it before, Orion is like socialism its sounds good in theory...
