I realized I have a family that requires Mom to make money to feed them . Sorry I can’t do that with 3.5 at UPS . I do what I need as a mother to feed my baby . I work at UPS and when that doesn’t cut it Amazon here I come . Bills paid child fed . My job here is done .

The ones who are lazy are the smart ones. Cant beat them join them. I worked 44 hours last week in 4 .5 days but now with all new hires getting a big raise im in semi retirement.

I understand you need to do what you need to do, so go find a FT job to feed your family.

i get your point. A lot of part timers are working full time hours. Most of this is due to the pandemic.

So, UPS creates a bunch of FT jobs now, what happens when things get back to normal in a year or two?

They no longer need you FT. They don’t need you working 44 hours in 4.5 days. They now need PTers working 4-5 hour days like it used to be.

Do they lay you off as a FT employee and hire a bunch of PT employees?

If they hire a bunch of FT employees now due to the increased volume, there could be massive layoffs in the future, and massive unemployment payments when things get back to normal.

UPS is in business to make money, I really can’t fault them for their wait and see attitude.

If this is the new norm, by all means staff accordingly. We will find out.

I’m independently contracted love . Lol make my own schedule yada yada . No boss no manager . Work when I want how long I want . I’m not a slave to a DIAD . Then I relax and collect UPS benefits. And keep my sanity .

I AM NOT AN AMAZON EMPLOYEE. What I am is an independent contractor who delivers packages out of her personal car . Then get compensation including tips . I do not wear a amazon uniform . I do not sport any amazon logo. Nor have I signed any contracts with Amazon . Look into it . #AmazonFlex

I think you are missing the point . But that’s cool . I’ll take all the jokes . But every guy here if you had the opportunity to work FT at UPS you wouldn’t drive . It pays well but it’s a hella crappy job . If other FT opportunities were there half would not choose to drive . WE NEED MORE FT JOBS SO WOMEN & MEN ALIKE ARE NOT FORCED TO DRIVE .

Good luck. They have fought forever to get more ft drivers, the hourly have. From what I remember and what I see now, nothing has changed. Other than that apply for IE, HR, CS, if they still have those. Where I was there were no ft positions other than driver, for anyone. Management and staff, thats it.

It’s fine guys I’ll just continue to do Amazon Flex . Where UPS falls short Amazon will fill in . I’ve realized long ago I won’t get more than 3.5 hrs working with UPS after 15 years . Been doing Amazon Flex for the last year or 2 . It’s great . Thanks for all the helpful tips . Good luck over working yourself for this company . And being it’s Bitch !

I raised two kids while being part time, they were in jr high before I got fulltime, as a lowly driver.(sarcasm) We did fine, having benefits was awesome. I am not a fan of some of the things that go on at UPS, but it fed, clothed and kept my kids with health care. I would not have waited 15 yrs to figure it out. I waited 8.. and yes I worked other pt jobs to fill in. Never in my wildest dreams did I think they were going to create more full time cushy positions. No job at UPS is cushy. They all have good and bad. All jobs everywhere do.

Then work for them FT and quit bitching. Oh yea, that’s right, you do need this job at UPS.

Work PT here for the bennies, drive for Amazon (Amazon DSP) and feed your family. I have no issues with this. I have issues with the bitching and moaning because UPS will not create a FT job for you, because you don’t want to deliver packages at a package delivery company, the same thing you are doing at Amazon, minus the time schedule.

Learn from your mistakes and try again.
My hub has quite a bit of women that are good drivers and come to work everyday.
They have rough days like us all but, they are well paid and their kids want for nothing.
