Go over take a look for yourself and draw your own conclusions. You're obviously a good reader and one of the first conditions spelled out is NO BENEFITS.
In fact as a courtesy to a friend of mine at Express who had arranged for an interview I interviewed for one of those positions. It was exactly as advertised. 17.5 hours and zero benefits. I didn't want the job because due to the limited hours it wasn't going to pay enough overall to justify being burdened with the damn thing but as I said I simply through the motions as a token of appreciation to my express friend.

So welcome to the new Fedex Express pal and it's own version of a "happy meal".
Your ignorance is only exceeded by your paranoia. The only part time people with no benefits are casuals. They are not guaranteed 17.5 unless something has recently changed. So that makes you a liar if you say that PERMANENT part time couriers get no benefits.

On that date Barrack Obama inherited the Bush Recession at which time saving critical segments of the economy and just getting people back to work in any form of it was the top priority.
Now on 1-20-21 if Joe Biden wins he will inherit the Trump Plague and dealing with that will be job one but it won't be long until the term "essential worker" will be given a legal definition and standing .......and might just be a game changer for you contractors. So once it starts gaining traction if I were you I would find out where the fire escape is and never be too far from it.
Which is what you say when a dog farts from the East instead of the west.

I may be paranoid but you are suffering from an obvious case of denial. Your exalted ruler/ hero/love interest has made is as clear as day that his company will be the lowest cost carrier in the business with the focus on cost reduction centered on "final mile" deliveries.

And with the transition to a part timer dominated workforce well underway the timeline between between part time and the obtainment of full time status just got a whole lot longer. So old fart, it's a different world than the one you come from.

Not that I disagree with you, but I will challenge you to cite your source of information substantiating your statement.

So you got caught in a lie about part timers NOT getting benefits so you change direction.

A Bloomberg interview about 6 weeks ago.
I gave you more credit than you deserve. What you cited was your memory, not a source.

This is a source: FedEx CEO Sees Vindication Ahead for His Anti-Amazon Strategy

in which Smith said “We already know how to do this,” said Smith, who notes that more than 90% of the U.S. population is within five miles of a FedEx facility. “That’s why we say with such confidence that we can do it and be the low-cost, high-service provider.”

If this is not the interview you are basing your opinion upon, please cite, correctly, the one that is.

If it is the correct interview, you are taking a penny and claiming it's a dollar.

If contracts are so great, why were they ONLY workforce in the company with a contract the 1st segment of the company to get furloughed and others have their hrs cut, I don't believe any couriers suffered those actions. Pilots are back to full force now, but for awhile, their situation wasn't so secure.
True, it's tough getting by having your hours cut when you're making $250k a year. Rough I tell you.

Even if Fat Freddy didn't say what Bacha quoted him as saying word for word, I feel like the message still came through pretty loud and clear.

Just showing that a contract doesnt mean changes cant be done during bad economic times.
A contract isn't worth the paper it's written on if there's no governing legal authority in place with the power to make it binding. Ground contractors can tell you all about that.

if '"cost efficient" isn't a poorly disguised description of a plan to undertake a severe cost cutting initiative where nothing and nobody gets in the way then what does it mean?

Wrong. While you continue to stand there in shock and watch the quality of employment at your beloved Fedex Express bleed out on the floor in front of you all I say to you is..........."oh it's happening sweetheart".

Just go back and read their public job postings and what they do and do not offer.

In the end in will be hard to distinguish your precious little express package company from an ordinary pizza delivery operation.

And don't be surprised if someday in the not too distant Fat Freddy starts leaning on the property he owns in the House and Senate to lower the minimum driving age to 18. Lower in the states that will go along with it. Like Alabama....15.... or Georgia.... 12.

Not worth my time to read it and don't care. I am sure furloughs and hr reduction had to be done a certain way. You are just missing my point. Just because you have a contract, doesn't mean you won't be making sacrifices when tough times show their head. You knock yourself out reading the link and give us a brief explanation by tonight.

You lied and got caught. Plain and simple. ALL permanent part time employees get benefits. You can tell lie after lie and at the end of the day, you are still a liar. Casuals get no benefits. Learn to read instead of being a habitual liar and you will know the difference between a casual and an employee. The minute they hire trailer trash like you, everyone with any sense should resign.
