I don't get what you mean in your last sentence...Sysco just got mlk day . But ups doesn’t like to stop the operation . They’ll say no , but they’ll say ok we want this then.

I agree another discretionary day off (at the companies discretion) would be a cheap trade off.A lot of routes get broken out on Monday compared to the other days of the week as it is now.
What people say they want and then what people end up really doing is often two different things. Maybe 25% of people taking the day off might be a disaster, but people can still call in, and we don't have a huge spike in call ins as it is now on MLK Day so quietly adding another discretionary day to the contract might just be a good solution for everyone
HalloweenI'd rather have Good Friday as a paid holiday.
My idea was that the particular discretionary day off be of the EMPLOYEE'S choosing or discretionI agree another discretionary day off (at the companies discretion) would be a cheap trade off.
I want the day off!!!So wait. Let me make sure I got this right. You're hoping that the big wigs are reading this and your idea is... "anyone that really wants the day off should get it."
Someone get this man to the negotiation tables immediately!
Halloween
Again, if my informal proposal made it into the contract, you two would have those optionsI'd rather have Good Friday as a paid holiday.
I want that day off too!!I'd rather have Good Friday as a paid holiday.
I also want that day off!!Halloween
He saying if they give you another day off, they’re going to want something in return.I don't get what you mean in your last sentence...
Good luck with that. We have 2 discretionary days off a year and are always denied. I just take the extra 2 days pay every year.My idea was that the particular discretionary day off be of the EMPLOYEE'S choosing or discretion
I haven’t been denied my option days for quite some time, but I do have quite a bit of seniority. But when I didn’t have seniority and I was denied, I took it anyway, and they usually just pay me.Good luck with that. We have 2 discretionary days off a year and are always denied. I want those days off too!!In Local 705 we get four optional days... Additionally, we can break up our optional week into individual days if we so choose. Work and life should be a balance. I am figuring we are all mature enough to be able to take some quantity of discretionary days and each decide for ourselves how to best use them
That makes too much sense. This year UPS should just close July 3rd. A monday with very little resi and every industrial business closed.
Yes, let’s get the July 3 off too. I’ll take that as well!!!This year UPS should just close July 3rd. A monday with very little resi and every industrial business closed.
That is what I tell younger members. If you really need the day off, just call in.I haven’t been denied my option days for quite some time, but I do have quite a bit of seniority. But when I didn’t have seniority and I was denied, I took it anyway, and they usually just pay me.
3 day weeksYes, let’s get the July 3 off too. I’ll take that as well!!!
