I can respect the logic of your statement, and I appreciate the consistency of your stance.

But most people draw a distinction between the law as imposed by local politicians, and "higher law", or "natural law", or whatever you want to call it.

By your definition, no despot in history has ever murdered anyone, because "legally", they were entitled to kill people.
But most people would consider it murder anyway, by virtue of breaking those higher laws.

For most, it would probably be all those pesky "Thou shalt not kill" bits floating around virtually all cultures.

Again, it's an understanding, not something I can "prove".
If you chose to ignore a common understanding of things like "killing is wrong", then you're lacking a foundation on which to debate any moral issue at all.
