I think I would have to say I am still proud.
Im especially proud when someone says " I never knew that women could get hired there". I want to say, "crawl out of your cave" but I dont.
I know my Dad was so proud of me. He had a driver that delivered his medicine, and would chat with him, and put up with all his little ankle biters. His name was Sarge, out of ERie PA. He was a great guy from what I was told, My Dad just adored him. Those are the kind of drivers I like to think we still have. The ones who wait when they know someone takes forever to get to the door, and lived with the overallow because of it. Those people depend on us as much as the fortune 500's. I know we dont have the time to, but sometimes we just have to.
And Sarge always told him, how hard the job was, especially for a woman. And my Dad would tell him, shes a strong little girl, and I wanted her to keep her part time job but she wanted to be a driver, and she seems to like it.
And he would brag to everyone, sometimes ad nauseum, but it probably made him prouder than me. To him "I had made it" to the top.
So I think that is part of my pride that I made my dad proud.
But Im proud because we are respected. And when I see a customer at 7 at night, on area, that has a business that closed at 5, they then realize why I was 1/2 hr later than usual, and respect me for getting there when I do. And I never get no crap like the people who think I drive a 28 ft truck around all day, and the only pkg I have was theirs.

After all we are entrusted with a vehicle that fights traffic all day, and have an excellent rep. WE deal with millions of customers, angry or whatever in our work life, and never shoot anyone. Most of us manage our families with the same pride we do with our jobs, and it all turns out great. So while the big guys fight it out at the top, I keep the respect for the company in my world in tact. And blow off the bad remarks. Coz at the end of the day, or your work life, no one can take away your pride.
