The pres. did what he does best.....make fun of the people who are afraid of the border violence. He said the borders are safer than ever.......I don't know where he gets his figures, but I read too much about the violence in Ciudad Juarez.

He's in campaign mode and just looking for Hispanic votes. NOW, he's transparent!!

Sheriff Paul from Pinal County said that O has been listening to Janet and has been given a bill of goods regarding our borders being safer. 'O' lied. The whole speech had fictional figures (numbers) in it. I only want to hear about the southern borders from the people who are actually there and deal with it daily....they will know the truth.

Is it any different than the republicans using it in 2010?
WHO?
Another Friday afternoon statement from the White House means another bit of bad news for immigration reform advocates. This time, President Barack Obama met with correspondents from Hispanic media outlets and said he expects Congress to deal with immigration early next year.
The new statement pushes Obama farther away from his commitment to deal with the issue during his first year in office — a promise he made to Latino voters he badly needed to carry some swing states in the 2008 election.

The difference is, when democrats speak of immigration reform they are talking about amnesty, when repubs talk about it, they(most of them) aint.

When republicans speak of immigration they are speaking of deporting 12 million people, something they know is logistically impossible, so they are able to take their "high-horse" "law and order" stance in verbage knowing all along they will continue to reap the benefits of wage suppression and union castration.

Now we won't truly know if it's not possible until it's tried.
I say we grab everyone caught this week illegally crossing the border and send them to Tx to control all those wild fires that the Federal gov't won't help fight.

Look,

Once and for all, can you guys get the immigration problem correct. Its so frustrating to hear you all talk about the borders as if thats where our problems lie.

Here are the facts, from homeland security 2010:

overstayed tourist visas and now in country illegally 41%
overstayed student visas and now in country illegally 29%
overstayed work visas and now in country illegally 19%

Crossing borders illegally and now in country illegally 11%

ALL THIS TOUGH TALK about our borders and your only talking about 11% divided by 3 or 3.6 %percent per border area.

There are millions of illegals simply walking off planes and buses, collecting their luggage and catching a cab to a relatives house, and you morons want to talk about placing our military on the border arm in arm with weapons so you can feel safe?

Get serious.

Peace.

P.s. the 19 hijackers came into this country under bush with authorized student visas, overstayed them and flew planes into our buildings, does this help you out?

Look yourself. "overstayed tourist visas and now in country illegally 41%, overstayed student visas and now in country illegally 29%,overstayed work visas and now in country illegally 19%"
are not the ones shooting ranchers, smuggling drugs, soaking up public assistance money in boarder states (as well as others) . I don't give a flip, if we cut out the 11% it damn sure would make a dent in the over all problem. All this crap you just posted may all be true, does that mean the problem be ignored and tell everyone "Welcome to the USA"? BS! ALL of these areas need to be addressed, yesterday. What makes you think that anyone here didn't know that the southern border was the only point of entry of illegal aliens. I've seen that claim from no one. So who is the raving maroon here? When I say "protecting the border" I mean ALL boarders, whether that be physical ground borders, land and water or the borders crossed in the air.

Reagan talked about immigration and passed the largest amnesty bill so far. So, Im confused of what republicans you are speaking of. ??
Your right Reagan did that, how has that worked out ? Not so good as it appears. Reagan also talked about stopping the illegal migration along with that amnesty, but it never happened and that is the fault of every president since him. If they, the government, had done as they were supposed to ever since Reagan home land security wouldn't be handling all the cases they are today and we wouldn't be having this debate. If the INS and now DHS had been doing their job on overstayed visa violators all along, the remaining 11% would be a snap to solve.

The republicans I am talking about are the ones of today not in the past and you know it. Just curious, Mr. Knowitall, of the 19 overstayed visa terrorists, what were their inter dates to the US and when did their visas expire, do you have any evidence that Bush made any directions to the INS concerning overstayed visas?

Dominating the southern horizon at Chamizal National Memorial Park, the site on the U.S.-Mexico border where President Obama delivered his major immigration speech Tuesday, was a giant Mexican flag, dedicated by that country’s president in 1997 with the express purpose of reminding Americans that they must pay attention to their neighbors to the south.
The flag literally hung over Mr. Obama’s visit to this border city: It was in the background as he toured a cargo-inspection facility, and could be seen poking out over the top of the backdrop as he spoke to hundreds of supporters, urging them to pressure Congress to legalize illegal immigrants.
Locals said it can be seen throughout much of the rest of town, and is a stark reminder of the city’s location on the border.

(NBC Bay Area) — One of the men being hailed a hero for his actions during Sunday night’s flight from Chicago to San Francisco where a passenger attempted to break through the cockpit door talked about his efforts on Tuesday.
Larry Wright, who is a retired police officer, said he did what he thinks anyone should do under the same circumstances. Wright sat down with reporters at SFO two days after the flight landed safely and the man was taken into police custody.
A man named Rageh al-Murisi is accused of walking to the front of the plane and attempting to get in the cockpit.
Wright said he was sitting in seat 20C when he noticed a fellow passenger walking past. “As I turned, there was a person walking past me.
He rapidly broke into a trot. . . then yelled ‘Allahu akbar.’
Wright said from his training as a police office he knew there was a problem and he immediately got up and followed the man.
He said when he reached him, he was at the cockpit door.
Wright said he put him in a control hold with the help of four or five other people.
“I started thinking about the possible scenarios that could be playing out here. There could’ve been a contaminant of sorts. There could’ve been an unexploded ordinance on the gentleman, so I asked if they had any more flexcuffs,” Wright said.
Wright said he physically sat on top of al-Murisi for the remainder of the flight. By that time, al-Murisi had both his arms and his legs in plastic handcuffs and a belt and he was barefoot after Wright and another stripped him of his shoes and socks.
Wright said al-Murisi never spoke to him directly but said “Allahu akbar” some more 30 times during the duration of the flight.

Here are the facts according to DHS.

62% of illegal immigrants are from Mexico.

AV8,

welcome to the debate....

The reality is AV, that most "mexicans" simply come in on airplanes and buses, not running across a hot desert. Being Hispanic, I know a little about this personally.

Establishing a tourist visa is easy to do, and millions are granted each year by our goverment. Its the golden ticket. They come in and never leave. Border guards will have ZERO effect on this aspect of immigration and hispanics.

You will only stop a small percentage or drop in the bucket compared to the real larger issue.

Peace.

TRIP,

blah blah blah blah, your starting to sound like charlie browns teacher.

Look, if this country was serious about immigration, and specifically republicans, placing armed soldiers on the border isnt the answer.

The answer lies with finding a solution as to why they come here in the first place.

JOBS, money, infrastructure.

If we started in mexico, and forced american companies to pay living wages then that would be a start to keeping them in mexico. If american companies in mexico were forced to pay for infrastructure repairs through taxes, so roads could be maintained, electricity could be spread around, running water sent to all homes and retail establishments stocked with food, then they wouldnt have to come here any longer.

Mexico along with the help of the us goverment has kept it a third world nation. This ranking in the third world only perpetuates the immigration problem for us.

As long as maytag and the others are paying 11 american dollars a day for a 10 hour shift, then they will only stay in that job long enough to save to come here and make 75 dollars a day standing in front of home depot.

Second, we need to agressively stop the hiring of illegals here in this country, but we as americans have to accept the unintended consequence of that action.

Higher prices will arise if you kick them all out. Goods and Services will be forced to raise prices and we cannot complain about it.

The republicans should call for legal actions against any employer presently using an illegal workforce.

To date, they dont even mention that. Armed border guards is the answer.

Instead, republicans want to INCREASE the number of temp work visas because they say employers need the workers from mexico, but what they dont say is that almost 100% of those workers who come in on a work visa will never leave once here.

They shoot themselves in the foot with there own policies and then want to complain about it.

Hypocrites.

If there were NO jobs for them here in any capacity, then they would not come here.

If american companies in mexico payed a living wage then they would not come here.

If the mexican goverment was forced to provide infrastructure change to all cities in mexico, then they would not come here.

43% of all jobs in mexico are currently provided by an american company. Thats a fact.

The average YEARLY wage for a mexican worker employed by an american company is 3400 a year. Divide that by 12 and you get 283 a month, then divide by 4 and you get 70.83 then divide by 5 and you get 14 dollars a day, then the employees pay a flat tax of 3% and they take home less than 11 bucks a day.

And you want them to stay in mexico?? For 11 bucks a day?

They would rather risk their lives in the desert or simply walking off a plane and overstaying a visa.

You want immigration reform? Then understand the immigration problem first.

Peace.
