Look yourself. "overstayed tourist visas and now in country illegally 41%, overstayed student visas and now in country illegally 29%,overstayed work visas and now in country illegally 19%"
are not the ones shooting ranchers, smuggling drugs, soaking up public assistance money in boarder states (as well as others) . I don't give a flip, if we cut out the 11% it damn sure would make a dent in the over all problem. All this crap you just posted may all be true, does that mean the problem be ignored and tell everyone "Welcome to the USA"? BS! ALL of these areas need to be addressed, yesterday. What makes you think that anyone here didn't know that the southern border was the only point of entry of illegal aliens. I've seen that claim from no one. So who is the raving maroon here? When I say "protecting the border" I mean ALL boarders, whether that be physical ground borders, land and water or the borders crossed in the air.
Your right Reagan did that, how has that worked out ? Not so good as it appears. Reagan also talked about stopping the illegal migration along with that amnesty, but it never happened and that is the fault of every president since him. If they, the government, had done as they were supposed to ever since Reagan home land security wouldn't be handling all the cases they are today and we wouldn't be having this debate. If the INS and now DHS had been doing their job on overstayed visa violators all along, the remaining 11% would be a snap to solve.
The republicans I am talking about are the ones of today not in the past and you know it. Just curious, Mr. Knowitall, of the 19 overstayed visa terrorists, what were their inter dates to the US and when did their visas expire, do you have any evidence that Bush made any directions to the INS concerning overstayed visas?
TRIP,
blah blah blah blah, your starting to sound like charlie browns teacher.
Look, if this country was serious about immigration, and specifically republicans, placing armed soldiers on the border isnt the answer.
The answer lies with finding a solution as to why they come here in the first place.
JOBS, money, infrastructure.
If we started in mexico, and forced american companies to pay living wages then that would be a start to keeping them in mexico. If american companies in mexico were forced to pay for infrastructure repairs through taxes, so roads could be maintained, electricity could be spread around, running water sent to all homes and retail establishments stocked with food, then they wouldnt have to come here any longer.
Mexico along with the help of the us goverment has kept it a third world nation. This ranking in the third world only perpetuates the immigration problem for us.
As long as maytag and the others are paying 11 american dollars a day for a 10 hour shift, then they will only stay in that job long enough to save to come here and make 75 dollars a day standing in front of home depot.
Second, we need to agressively stop the hiring of illegals here in this country, but we as americans have to accept the unintended consequence of that action.
Higher prices will arise if you kick them all out. Goods and Services will be forced to raise prices and we cannot complain about it.
The republicans should call for legal actions against any employer presently using an illegal workforce.
To date, they dont even mention that. Armed border guards is the answer.
Instead, republicans want to INCREASE the number of temp work visas because they say employers need the workers from mexico, but what they dont say is that almost 100% of those workers who come in on a work visa will never leave once here.
They shoot themselves in the foot with there own policies and then want to complain about it.
Hypocrites.
If there were NO jobs for them here in any capacity, then they would not come here.
If american companies in mexico payed a living wage then they would not come here.
If the mexican goverment was forced to provide infrastructure change to all cities in mexico, then they would not come here.
43% of all jobs in mexico are currently provided by an american company. Thats a fact.
The average YEARLY wage for a mexican worker employed by an american company is 3400 a year. Divide that by 12 and you get 283 a month, then divide by 4 and you get 70.83 then divide by 5 and you get 14 dollars a day, then the employees pay a flat tax of 3% and they take home less than 11 bucks a day.
And you want them to stay in mexico?? For 11 bucks a day?
They would rather risk their lives in the desert or simply walking off a plane and overstaying a visa.
You want immigration reform? Then understand the immigration problem first.
Peace.
