Actually, I don’t think it’s a good idea to put limits to the kids. If they win by 5 or more goals let them do it. And if the opponent can’t handle it physically and mentally, then I think the coach has to decide if he wants to keep playing or not, and lose by default. It’s just my opinion. If this rule was applied to the league I used to play as a kid, I would have scored 6 goals, then make an auto-goal and rub it in the face of the opponent. LOL. JK.
Hey is this “Baba gounj” the reporter of browncafe?

There is little to be gained by either side when you run up the score on the other team. The kids on the winning team get a shallow victory and the kids on the losing team get their butts kicked for no reason. Mercy rules are there for a reason. Now, if it is the playoffs, then all bets are off.

Auto goal?

Just a thought....there are no 'mercy rules' in real life !! There are winners & losers and kids have to learn how to handle both early on. Not everyone should get a gold star.....you have to work hard and earn it!

There is little to be gained by either side when you run up the score on the other team. The kids on the winning team get a shallow victory and the kids on the losing team get their butts kicked for no reason. There's one of several reasons: They're not good. I'll come up with a story Upstate; when I was a kid we started a soccer team, on the first games we played we were beaten 4-0, and even 10-0, on most of the games; I dont' remember if we made even a goal. It might be different on some people, but this made us train harder and harder. We got a few new players, but basically we had the same players for the next season. Our second season was not that good, but it was better than the first one, we made it to the playoffs. We became a well-known team on our third season. You might not believe me, but my team won the Championship. Now, I think kids have to be taught that they need to make an effort, life is not easy, and that's what they have to learn. Mercy rules are there for a reason.I was about to say that. But, I think there are more benefits when children try their best, and make an effort so others don't beat them to their knees. Now, if it is the playoffs, then all bets are off.

Auto goal? Well, I call it auto-goal. Own-goal? How do you call it? Anyway here's a link so you can see an example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx3pP5GiWs0 LOL, it's funny.

I agree on this 100%. Children have to be taught that they need to work to gain things. Imagine one of these kids if they work for UPS when they become adults, with all these sups...

And people who don't support it have also been called racists. And I don't think that's the case either. I'm also against illegals, Morleuck. But, I'm not in favor of the law.

Well, people who support the immigration bill are being called racists and that's not the case. People in favor of the bill are against ILLEGALS......people who commit a crime by entering this country the wrong way. It doesn't matter if the illegal person is Romanian, Iraqi, Mexican, Guatemalan, Irish, Indian, Martian or whatever.....they broke the law!!

Well, if a CANADIAN soccer league has decreed this to be a rule then it is pretty much the same as Moses coming down from Mount Sinai with the Ten Commandments. Clearly it is now the job of all of us Americans to pressure our local soccer leagues to have the same rule. After all, if we don't model our country after CANADA, we are doomed.
Pickup, I do understand where you are coming from, but taking shots at Klein using Canada as a whole just dumbs down your credibility.
The fact is, many American YOUTH sports leagues already use some sort of mercy rule and have for many years.

IMHO, the purpose of youth sports is not to win games by any point margin. A coaches #1 job is to teach how to play the game by using and obeying the rules, teaching basic skills, fair play and maybe most importantly, sportsmanship. The win/lose column should not be forgotten but should be the last consideration. As someone said earlier, a one point win looks the same as a 20 point win. A coach should use comfortable leads to give the bench warmers field/court time, nothing teaches as well as game experience.
Youth sports should be fun for everyone involved and it has been my experience that a low margin win is much more fun than a blowout....for everyone.
I coached youth leage girls softball, off and on, for 15 years and I must admit it took me a few years to learn how to coach. I could teach them how to play the game, how to hit and field, but teaching them how to think about the game was the most challenging and how to be good winners the most rewarding.

Coaches. keep the score reasonable, no one likes a bully.

I think Morelucks point is, most people that throw out the race card so frequently and easily are by their own standards racists. They do their best to demean people of other elasticities.

Moreluck, if I am wrong, please advise.

What does that have to do with Linda Sanchez? This is the first time I've ever heard about Miss Linda Sanchez. And did she called anyone racist?

Oh, and Cowboy. Don't try to implicate other people with your beliefs. Let Moreluck have free thoughts and ideas.

Linda Sanchez (congresswoman) referred to the authors of the AZ. immigration bill as being white supremists. It was all over the news today. She's been trying to backpeddle all day. Hers was a racist comment.

Klein, it's one thing to win and yet another to run up the score.

I coached both Little League and Babe Ruth baseball when my son was growing up. Whenever a game was getting out of hand I would pull my starting pitcher and stronger players and give my bench players more playing time. I would also tell the kids that if they hit a single not to try to stretch it in to a double. You can't stop playing the game but you can do so without running up the score.

Plus +1

I played/coach baseball as well, and if we were losing bad and the other team was still pouring it on, like stealing, bunting, running home on passed balls etc... end result was their best players are getting drilled with fastballs at the plate, until the winning coach calls off the dogs...you don't violate the golden rule in baseball, and that's rubbing your opponents noses in the dirt (clay).....so don't rub it or have tears come out, cause there's no crying in baseball...just respect and good sportsmanship....

Oh, no no, Moreluck, I thought I've already cleared that one up. She never said that the authors are white supremacists. She said that there are White Supremacist groups behind the law, and that these groups ARE influencing lawmakers “There’s a concerted effort behind promoting these kinds of laws on a state-by-state basis by people who have ties to white supremacy groups- Linda Sanchez. And, as I've said, I'll add that not only these groups ARE, but they HAVE inlfuenced the lawmakers. But she never refered that eveyone supporting or behind the law is a racist.
Man, the Texan doesn't even know who the heck is Rusell Pearce is. Do you Moreluck?

I'm pretty sure Moreluck is an adult, she can decide if she wants my input or not. You may be the KingofBrown, but not the the KingofBrownCAFE. In other words, I'll post when I want, where I want and if the Mods think I violated the TOS, THEY can tell me.:happy2:
You mean you didn't know who Linda Sanchez is?? you should, it's important ya know. LOL

While I'm here. Just because Ms. Sanchez says that group is white supremacist , does not make it true. So far I have seen no proof of her claim.

Sanchez sister: Supremacists back Ariz. law

Linda Sanchez told a Whittier Democratic group that the law was orchestrated the measure are “front organizations for white supremacist groups.
As reported by the Whittier Daily News, Sanchez, D-Lakewood, said this law is “not accidental or one person’s crazy idea. There’s a concerted effort behind promoting these kinds of laws on a state-by-state basis by people who have ties to white supremacy groups.”

Sanchez, D-Santa Ana, has said she was worried that she might be a deportation target given her heritage and opposes the law because it could lead to racial profiling and doesn’t get at the root issue – the need for comprehensive immigration reform.

Yeah, amnesty!

Just another dem who has not read the bill!:sad-little:

Do we honestly think that White supremists would support a bill that has a non-profiling clause in it...I doubt it...They'd say gather up everyone that's not white and get rid of them and then lets fire up some crosses!!:dissapointed:

In other words, I'll post when I want, where I want and if the Mods think I violated the TOS, THEY can tell me. Hey, I can say what I think too, Cowboy, that doesn't mean you have to obey to everything I say, I'm just giving my opinion. Moreluck is an adult, she has her own ideas and thoughts, Texan, don't try impose people to think like you. Let them give their free opinions, that way we will have much more to discuss and come with the bad points, and if there are good ones in the law SB1070. I'm just giving my opinion. And you can post, reply, or whatever you want to do with this post, Texan. I don't think I have violated any of the Browncafe.com rules, either by writing what I wrote. .:happy2:
You mean you didn't know who Linda Sanchez is?? you should, it's important ya know. LOL LOL, it's more important that you know who wrote the law, Texan, and you don't even know. Did Linda Sanchez write the law or has anything to do with it? You know people that have nothing to do with the law; and you don't know the ones that have something to do with it? Interesting.

While I'm here. Just because Ms. Sanchez says that group is white supremacist , does not make it true. Of course not, we're not living in an anarchy. So far I have seen no proof of her claim. I have, Cowboy, and I hope she takes this topic further. And please don't ask me to give you sources, you go and do your research and investigate who wrote the law, and who's accredited for it. Now, I wonder if you'd think that it should matter who wrote it and who's accredited for it. You said it didn't matter, lets see if it now matters for you, Cowboy.
