As a latino man, i am glad that cuban rule is gone. I went through a lot of :censored2: and $$ to get my citizenship. So did many others before me.

the fact is we have the lowest labor participation rate in history. where did those people go . how are they paying their bills. ask questions instead of calling what you disagree with lies.
Places like supply chain solutions, technology advances, overseas call centers, China, Mexico, really any place with cheap labor and economies so entirely mixed with ours the trade wars will doom us.

The question is, though, would it have been stronger, or weaker if his policies were not enacted? The economy ebbs and flows all the time.
Impossible questions with ever increasing variable at every turn.

Only fair way to judge is where did we start and where did we end. Anything else is pure speculation and subject to skewing probabilities and possibilities to arrive at the desired point. Kinda like believing a certain populace would greet American soldiers with flowers.

Gone? Nah. Too much money to be made with Cuba. If Trump can be friendly to Russia, Cuba is a no brainer.

there is nothing that says we have to have trade wars. nafta is 20 years old and needs to be renegotiated. it was never meant to be a permanent solution.
Our trade deficit last year was what 700 billion? We are stupid if we allow that to continue

So a country like Mexico will renegotiate?
China? Why? What's in it for them? And if they do renegotiate, why do you think we'd be significantly better off? I mean the idea sounds good but the array of clauses to be rewritten, negotiated, revised, renegotiated and approved is simply staggering. Trump sold a lot of people on the ease of such a thing but as massive as the Trump empire may be and the agreements it has signed, it is next to nothing compared to what he and you are proposing.

The real question is why do so called small government conservatives want the government in charge of the economy in the first place.

Excellent point. I thought government wasn't here to solve our problems. Apparently, the solution is Team America, World Police for real. That's an 8th grade solution to very complex issues, but that is the level Trump and his followers have the capability to understand.

it is because people want to keep things the same.

Your Chinese Subsidy is low cost consumer items that are cheap precisely because they are outsourced and off-shored. That also equals a trade deficit.

8th graders don't understand that, but they do understand threatening props and simplistic ideas that won't work in the real world.

It is no longer 1952. That ship has sailed, sunk, and won't be coming back.

You have a good union job. Republicans hate unions.
See any issues?
I see the fact unions are being replaced regardless. no jobs equal no unions. if automakers keep going over seas, manufacturing goes overseas, we have no jobs. Democrats aren't your friends, nor republicans. Obama wanted the tpp trade deal, that don't benefit us, nafta don't benefit us.

they also devalue their money which makes all their goods less expensive.

You mean, impossibly answered with absolute certainty.

Only fair way to judge is where did we start and where did we end. Anything else is pure speculation and subject to skewing probabilities and possibilities to arrive at the desired point. Kinda like believing a certain populace would greet American soldiers with flowers.
And with every metric, not just cherry picked ones.

Country works best when one party doesn't control everything.

I agree there's too many variables. But going off of where we were at the beginning and end of as presidential term seems trivial also. The real effects of most of an administraton's policies won't be felt until years after he's gone.

Ummmm. Not sure that's possible. I can't bring myself to condemn Reagan for where the Neo-Cons took the country even though they claim his mantle.
