You all called it. No one in upper management was willing to accept responsibility for calling a weather event for that day. It really is no different than a work outage caused by a blizzard.
Our Operations manager wanted to take Monday off and then throw all hands on deck at the workload the rest of the week. Most of us were willing to work on Saturday if it came to that to get clean.
But no go. UPS would rather risk putting us in harm's way for that almighty dollar. Sounds about right.....

The city I work in is going to be the first one in Oregon to witness the eclipse. Supposed to quadruple our numbers steadily over the weekend. Thank god I walk to work. I've no idea how drivers are gonna get anywhere. Heck even on a Friday before holiday weekends, the interstate is already deadlocked and the thoroughfares bumper to bumper.

How do you walk to work in Lincoln City? They get delivered out of Newport.

I was delivering back in I believe 1979 when we had a 3/4 solar eclipse around here. For the most part everyone stopped what they were doing (after it got real noticeable) and watched it using the old hole in a piece of paper trick.
