Back when the primary mode of transport was the horse exactly what was the incentive for Central Americans to trek up to the States? Immigrants then came primarily from very crowded Europe. We prospered, developed beyond anywhere in Latin America, and became the promised land for a better life. But we're at 330 million and counting and soon technology will eliminate millions of jobs. What could go wrong?
