In my local, if you take a day off voluntarily it doesn't effect your holiday pay. You call out, and it does.
Are you the part timer with the std.

Read your contract local supplement / rider section about holidays.
Why didn't they just give you a unpaid day off ???? Who the hell agrees to a one day Voluntary Lay off. If they lay you off it shouldn't be voluntary that is why they call it a lay off.
In my area you only have to work one day in the holiday week to get paid for the holiday or be on vacation.
Also unless your laid off for more than 30 days you get paid for the holidays that you that arise in that 30 days.

The the OP wasn't code 26 it's not a dead day. There might be a different pay code for VLO or one day layoff.

VLO is the same as a dead day and you should lose your holiday pay if you take a dead day on the preceding work day.

It varies by contract. For us, you would be paid even if you took the day before and after off.
