I wish I had raised mine. But I did the next best thing which was nothing. I really should have bumped it up though. I'm going to with the next raise anyway.

It takes 7-10 days for any changes to take effect so you most likely would not have been able to take advantage of the recent up/down activity.

If he has cash sitting there that is one thing but if he has to move stuff around to free up some cash that can also take 7-10 days.

In the self managed account, you are correct it takes time to settle the trade .

But in your regular 401k you could do it immediately as long as it's during trading hours.

The UPS self managed account isn't that great. I would use the other UPS 401k options for that money and start another outside account for managed investments.

Yes but they are not outrageous.

It is very easy to move funds in to the SMA but a bit harder to move them out.

I moved my funds over the phone, when I closed out my account.
