I will be taking a 4 day cruise up the coast to Alaska. Do I need to buy "nice" clothes to do the dining rooms? (Serious question)--I don't own any "nice" clothes anymore. I'm more a blue jean / sweat shirt kind of guy.

Normandy will be emotional as both of my Grandfathers went ashore . One went ashore on D Day and lived thru the war. the other went ashore a couple of weeks after Dday and was killed in the opening stages of Operation Cobra .The German lines were marked with smoke for the bombers but the wind blew it back on american forces and he was killed by 'Friendly Fire"

Hey, you can wear a flannel shirt with a collar. Depending on the cruise line they designate nights, formal, bus casual, and casual. I wear jeans and a short sleeved collared shirt all the time. If you decide to eat in the buffet it is more casual for sure.

Alaska is great, lots to see.

The picture of the paratrooper on the Church steeple was from St Mere Eglise. I believe it was the first town liberated in France.

Shorts and a wife beater seem acceptable nowadays. Long way from my first cruise in 92.
