You can program your cable remote for power and volume.Lol. Only functions I need are power and volume. My cable remote can handle the rest.

I wouldn't spray anything in it, just something to scrap the corrosion off the best you can.You can use whatever you use to clean your kitchen or bathroom. Just spray some on the contacts, wipe off, rinse the case and let it thoroughly dry before putting in new batteries.
I am buying myself a Sony 55" Smart TV as a retirement gift and plan on using Alexa as my remote.

I would only spray as the last option if nothing else worked.I wouldn't spray anything in it, just something to scrap the corrosion off the best you can.
Yeah, because it isn’t working. Clean it with what?
If you use a spray something like acetone would probably be best.
Wondering if it was @RonBurgandy??????????'s, haven't heard from him in a while.

Are any of you electronics whizzes...like with TVs?
I doubt it. Advantage would be lack of residue. Probably better than a household cleaner. I would preferably just scrape it clean. And melt the plastic.
Lol. I’ve been trying for years and so far, no success. You can program your cable remote to do that for you.

Remote probably didn't have the right TV codes, with a sony bravia, probably does.Lol. I’ve been trying for years and so far, no success.
Here’s my issue... my sister gave me a TV a few years ago, a 42in Sony Bravia. I’m finally trying to hook it up and it has no power. No lights come on. When I went to change batteries in remote I noticed that one had corroded at one end. Any ideas on what I need to do next?
Its a lot easier to program now than it used to be when you had to look it up yourself and input the code numbers.Remote probably didn't have the right TV codes, with a sony bravia, probably does.
It is a cable company's remote, they are not going to be all high techie, or anything. But possibly. Its a lot easier to program now than it used to be when you had to look it up yourself and input the code numbers.
