My theory is

They sound like fine people.

My parents had maybe one or two gin fizzes a year --- usually on New Years Eve. That was the extent of their drinking. I remember one year they really got mad at me because by the time it came around around to making their drink I had that gin bottle diluted with water to the point it was basically just water. After Mom died Dad always kept a case of beer in the refrigerator for us boys.

I'm going to disappoint you.
They grew up thinking everyone got participation trophies and reality is biting them in the ass?
I don't think so...
I think these issues have always been...they were just ignored.
But I've seen people say Autism is a "new thing" but it isn't.

These are just aspects of things being thrust into the spotlight.

Too many kids are getting labeled with autism. They keep expanding the definition to include more kids with problems. Even worse is when they start loading them up with medication to control their behavior.
