Supposedly it improves the flavor a little, fancy restaurants soak the chicken in it overnight. We don't use buttermilk in my house, maybe a little salt, pepper, and a few other seasonings. My wife makes good chicken tenders, dips the chicken in an egg wash, and breads it with Italian seasoned bread crumbs instead of flour. Fried chicken isn't a difficult dish to make.
You got me curious about buttermilk so I just looked it up. Buttermilk helps tenderize the chicken while keeping it juicy.

Big blues uses a gas smoker which I’m not crazy about. It’s decent but not great.

17th street is 3 time world champions of Memphis in may.

While their sauce sucks the dry rub is like crack.
Are you near Cairo? Used to be a bbq place that was some of the best ribs I’ve had sauce was off the chain it came in what looked like a dish soap bottle

The best fried chicken in my opinion you get from a Publix grocery deli. I think they use a little extra pepper in their coating. I was disappointed the last time I ate KFC, it just doesn't compare. I like their Mojo Wings too, they bake their hot wings.

I had a friend from Maryland come to my house once for dinner. He was bummed because I bought chicken from Publix rather than frying it. he knows I can cook. When he tasted their chicken, he got over it. Lol.
