i know one railway worker who lost a toe
when you are doing up the air hoses between cars, there is so little space between the cars that ive jumped out plenty of times just in case it moves by accident. there is little space between because they are too cheap to make it safe. if there was more space there would be longer equipment which would cost more money.
working night shifts on the railway was terribly dangerous. it wasnt safe at all, worse than driving drunk.
i used to take the train up the canyon and there was nothing for safety. trains went into the river and the crews died.
riding on the side of railway equipment ive slipped a bunch of times because theres just flat steel, oh and some of the equipment doesnt have high grab bars so you have poor centre of balance, plus they expect you to have one hand on the radio so part of the time you are only holding on with 1 hand. they call it "3 point protection" but its a 3rd world capitalist scam to make money at the expense of your safety.

one of the problems with capitalism is inefficient consumption. so for example, many people have way more housing than wat they actually need, and one effect is heating a big house and how inefficient that is.
