That's what any sane, rational person would do.

But, we are talking about @anHOURover.

Aren't we all ?

IBT Officers and Agents, pay the highest dues in the Union.

How's that ?

We are the envy of the transportation industry.

So, you mean FZ.

President of Local 89.... for 18 years.... and now a "reformer".

(when he didn't get what he wanted or thought he deserved)

FlipFlop Fred.

I'll bet he is missing that extra paycheck as CarHaul Director.

Aside from feathers being ruffled with a new Healthcare Plan....

Again.... "what concessions" ??

@Faceplanted should spell it out.

-Bug-
1. 4 yr progression for pt.
2. 1 punch a wk vs 1/mo for Health Care coverage.
3. Single day vacation coverage drivers that they can use during volume fluctuations.
4. Total loss of insurance upon the death of the member immediately if the family has ever gone out of network within two years prior to the member's death. Can you tell me when you're going to die? Maybe we can plan for that then. The company gave us at least 6 months for families in coverage no matter what on the old plan.
I'll have to dig out my old information to fill you in on the rest of them.

How many (nowadays) last 30 days ?

Only to aspire working 1 day a month....

Is not a goal, most people go for.

Would like to see that one.
The guy that came from Chicago to our local muttered that info under his breath while facing the screen. I asked him to repeat his last statement and he reluctantly repeated it to the members present.

We have many part timers wanting to go full time and even if it's (1) per building it still affects a member adversely.

No one told us about that concession and it is a concession. If you miss a week for the flu and don't do to a doctor you get a letter in the mail telling you your insurance is void. Concession bug, it's Not about working one day a month.

Equal or better right!!!

What if an employee has a death in close family and needs a few weeks to tie up loose ends and get it together emotionally. No insurance right? Concession!!!

wide load

Starting wage is a waste of time.
I'm at a NO . Union needs to change my mind. So far nothing. But concessions. AGAIN!
Are you on the negotiating committee? How would you even know?

So you start at NO. Okay. Sure.

I'll say it again, anyone that has made a decision on their vote without a single proposal is being ridiculous.

I'm at NO UNTIL I GET BACK WHAT WAS STOLEN FROM ME LAST CONTRACT !
Tell the BOSTON BULLY THAT ONE !
MY WHOLE LOCAL FEELS THE SAME AND IT WILL SHOW IN THE VOTE

Define negotiating committee ?
In my local it's 2 clowns who have not touched a package in 20 years.
They show up at a meeting and "sign in"
Vote yes to all the predetermined concessions and go play golf.

Rehashing the blame game in my opinion isn't going to be constructive. It pours gasoline on a fire. We are trying to grow the forest back, right?

1. Most apprenticeships have a progression to become a journeyman. I know we require great skills and learning to be qualified to do this job!

2. Most jobs require their workers to come to work everyday, let alone one punch in a single week.

3. If someone has an issue FMLA is always an option. If that doesn't work coming into work in these hard times is a harsh reality to some, but we don't live in a comforting world.

Another poster pointed out just some concessions. Instead of agreeing you give excuses. It's sick!!!!

What's next? We have to pay for healthcare... than you come on here and say "well most people have to pay for health care in the USA". Cut the crap!!

MAN UP!!! Say we lost quite a bit over these past contracts but we're gonna aim for more this one.... instead excuses and squirming around to avoid agreeing makes me show all you higher up union guys don't care and will screw us with a crap contract to vote on again.

Just so I can get this straight, what do you do as far as involvement in union matters? Do your duties consist of being an employee and a member of the Brown Cafe or are you more involved?

Just looking for a little background on you. I'm an open book here. My political views, union involvement and passion are all out in the open. What are some of yours, without giving up your identity of course?

Let's see, what the "hive" at the BrownCafe has to say.

Be realistic.

Don't be stupid.

It's an honest question, and I would like honest answers.

I'll start:

1) Maintain H&W.... and improvements.

2) Maintain our pension.... and improvements

(including a cost of living increase for retirees)

3) Eliminate 17-I from the Central Region supplement

It's your turn.

Go.

-Bug-

How about better seniority rights for part timers. I have been working on preload for 11 years now and I do not want to drive. I have a good 9-5 job. I do a good job and over time have learned all the jobs from surepost, clerk, scanning, unloading, sorting, and so on... I have reached a point where I just want to stay in the sort isle and not wake up every morning wondering what job they are going to throw me into. While they just throw me around using me to fill their gaps so they dont ever have to train anyone I have to watch the new hires go into the sort isle and do the easy job that I have been asking for. All the supervisors keep telling me they do not have seniority for part timers and the shop stewards shrug off the question all the time and say they dont know. After 11 years I think I should have the right to choose what job I do that morning over the new hires.

With all due respect, you answered your own question.... right ?

The devil is in the details.... and the majority voted for it.

Trying to kill the messenger (post mortem) is an exercise in futility.

How has that changed ? If you are eligible, FMLA applies.

Back at you. Come to work !

Check you're "self entitled" privilege.... at the door.

Vote your (informed) conscience.

But, please don't whine.... if you are in the minority.

Why does my involvement have anything to do with the comments made by me and others.

You asked what concessions, some were posted. You guys acted like you didn't see them, and than made excuses for them.

I'm done in this thread. The USA toook a stand, I voted to get this crap, in the bed with ups ibt out, but the canooks who shouldn't even have any eggs in the same basket (they have central healthcare for the love of God) kept you guys in.

90% of a local voted NO on a suplimwnt and it was shoved down the throats. Why vote if "H" can do it for us, or if Canadians can do it for us
