It’s possible people don’t trust the government. Personally I think it’s all far more serious than we know so far. Capitalism doesn’t shut down over a hoax and by now, people aren’t even thinking in terms of cheap easy money.
Nah. Go ask brownslave. Everything is fine. The world is shutting down for no reason. Lol

The world is shutting down? I have made no changes in my life so far, except paid a little more for groceries than usual because all the cheap brands were sold out. Whatever will I do?

The decision makers are shutting events and schools down to avoid liability. The "news" has blown the issue way out of proportion, causing people to think it's a much bigger deal than it is, thus making people feel more defensive. If the shut downs didn't happen, and people showed up, and there happened to be an outbreak, everyone would start suing. This is a media induced hysteria, that is what is really going on.

We need to look to Taiwan to learn how to properly handle these things:

Taiwan dodged big coronavirus outbreak thanks to the SARS effect

Regarding law suits: The princess cruise law suit is due to the cruiseline intentionally withholding information from their passengers about people on one cruise being let off at port and testing positive for corona. Then, 62 passengers and the crew from that cruise stuck around for the next cruise. That is the cruise being quarantined outside of San Fransisco. Many of the people on that cruise would not be in that position if they had been informed of the facts.

The difference between this case, and all the events being shut down, is that anyone going to said events should know the risks of attending and be able to decide to take preventive action, or not go all together. If enough people cancel, then shut the event down. No need for litigation.

How would you prove where you picked up the virus? If a UPS driver walks into 500 establishments in a week, where did he pick it up? Or is it a fact he picked it up at the Garth Brooks concert? Who’s liable?

This would require an administration that believed in science all along.

How do they know where anyone got the virus from? They have methods. But being unable to prove a case rarely stops the more litigious leaning folks out there.

I find it hard to believe that in the case of a pandemic where simple everyday contact can spread the virus, that courts will let many of those go forth.

I feel the same way but apparently my parents don’t. They are going to the casino!!!
Life goes on. We had 25 people over yesterday (75% retired folks) for a bon-fire and a corn beef and cabbage dinner later . Everyone had a good time. All germs and viruses were killed with shots of Irish Whisky and other alcohols.
