44 Americans on cruise ship docked in Japan tested positive for coronavirus, U.S. health official says
BEIJING - Hundreds of U.S. citizens who have spent nearly two weeks exposed to the coronavirus and quarantined aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship docked near Tokyo were evacuated Sunday evening and taken by bus to a nearby airport, where two chartered planes are scheduled to return them to the United States.
Forty-four Americans who were traveling on the Diamond Princess have been infected, Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told The Washington Post on Sunday.
About 400 Americans were on the cruise ship when it docked in Japan, and the Japanese Defense Ministry said 300 of them disembarked Sunday night, the Associated Press reported. Once they land on U.S. soil, the passengers will be quarantined and monitored for an additional 14 days at military bases in Texas and California.
I really don't understand why you are so adamant that this is no big deal? Scientists have been warning of a possible pandemic for many years now. Yes the flu kills up to 60,000 or so a year in the U.S. and that's scary. But it's primarily the elderly and small children. This coronavirus is killing all ages, and it's growing exponentially. The insidious thing is it incubates for weeks before showing itself. That makes it extremely difficult to control it's spread. It's not only killing people but incapacitating many thousands more. And since it's centered in China at the moment it's also disrupting supply chains around the world as well as damaging China's economy. If China collapses financially we're most likely headed to a recession if not depression. So why the constant downplaying of it?

If the coronavirus infects 4 billion and kills 3% of them that's 120 million. The Spanish Flu infected 1/3rd of the Earth's population and killed possibly 20% of those infected. But it was a very fast moving virus. Said to have originated in China but was called the Spanish Flu because it killed over 8 million in Spain alone. 675,000 in the U.S. And that was in less than a year. Viruses tend to run their course and are over in hot weather. So better hope summer comes early this year. And consider with the world's population at over 7 billion and the crowded conditions of Asia a lot more than 120 million could die and hundreds of millions could be incapacitated for as much as a month. If there's no vaccine and no way to tell early on who has been infected what's to stop that from happening?

No, something is affecting the climate. But I don't think that's been completely settled yet. And there are lots of different scientists in a lot of different fields that don't often correlate with each other.so you admit "science" is correct about the virus yet continue to argue that climate change "science" is hog wash??
You being an elite intellectual I would've thought you'd have something substantive to say about the true nature of this virus and why it's not a legitimate threat to world stability. Carry on.
same is true in the "medical" arts/ science field. Why are you so freaked out about it. The regular flu is still taking more lives daily. We all die some timeNo, something is affecting the climate.
