Years ago I had my keys come off my finger and bounce. In the motion of walking when they bounced they got kicked down the storm drain. I could see them way down there. Fortunately for me I was near the offices in charge of water treatment. Guy come over pulled the grate off and was able to fish my keys out for me. First stop. The restroom to wash them real good.
