Classified or not, having possession of NDI ( Natinal Defense Information) is criminal for ANYONE to possess outside of a secure government facility.He is being investigated and his home as raided for gathering and collecting the NDI in an unsecure facility and obstructing the process of the government to return it. Ya'll can yammer on about hE WuZ PrEziDenT ,doesnt matter. Again it's CRMINIAL to possess NDI,no exceptions.

After about a thousand posts arguing whether he has a right to possess the documents.
He obviously has the security clearance to view them when is President.
My question is why remove them and take them with you?
Was it to share the info later? Was it to keep it from being viewed by the new President’s administration?
Lost in all this is that Trump was just an employee of the people of the US while he was President. He was no longer an employee when he left with the documents.

sounds like they are still claiming obstruction or mishandling of documents because Trump had documents in other parts of mar a lago then the storage locker. I think they're going to claim Trumps actions were deliberate.
Looking at their past tactics with Flynn and others i would guess they would try to charge a Trump attorney and see if they can scare that person into turning on the former president.
Going to be interesting if they go that route. Maralago was trumps other white house . he spent a lot of time there and would obviously have had a lot of work taken there with him.
One of the more bizarre accusations i saw were the one that Trump had documents in his desk as if that was nefarious. Well if the president is sitting at his desk and working then it would seem to make sense that he would have documents stored in his desk.

the broader question is why do all presidents take those documents with them.
records , memorabilia and as we found out a lot of was attorney/client information.
he spent a lot of time at MAR a lago as his second white house.
it makes sense that after 4 years he would have had a lot of documents there when he worked there.

FBI took empty folders, photographs and clothes from Mar-a-Lago
The list shows that several empty folders found had classified markings on them and magazine and news articles were also picked up.
So the picture worth a thousand words was filled with empty folders ?
