For those newbies who are lost and do not have a phone, there is a little known/taught feature built into the diad that will help you get in the relative area.

In EDD, hit "enter" on a street you are of unsure of. Once you are on the address screen, keep hitting "enter" until you highlight the street name. Once you highlight the street name, hit big arrow down and it will list all the streets and addresses in that vicinity.

Your first 30 working days you are on the same training route everyday. Takes most new guys 20 working days to get the hang of it and qualify. After that they will just throw you out there blind. You will miss that easy training route. Also as the newest driver, and seniority rules, you can imagine what routes you will be running. The ones nobody else wants to do. This usually only last for about 5 years or more until you can bid your own route. At that point they will turn your route into a training route and you be out running junk routes again while someone else is training on your route.

That's usually how it works in our hub. Full time hub workers go to either a training route or regular route right away. Part timers become utility drivers, then move to a training route, then to a regular route. Getting a regular route takes a while.

Used to take decades before you could bid your own route. With the baby boomers retiring it shouldn't take as long. Last week we had 4 bid routes posted due to retirement.

I have been asking the drivers around, but it seems as if the drivers resent the loaders here. They're not the best source for questions ironically. It seems as if they dont want me to be a driver because it threatens them somehow

Not sure how they could feel threatened by you, if you become a driver you will be below them in all ways that with seniority.
I like new drivers, more chance I can get a day off. :happy-very:
