At least 15 people were shot, two of them fatally, Friday into Sunday morning in Mayor Lori Lightfoot's (D) Chicago.

ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reported the first of the two fatal shootings was discovered Saturday morning around 12:30 a.m., when officers found a 39-year-old man with a gunshot wound on the ground “in the 4900-block of West Hubbard Street.”
The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Just after noon on Saturday a 32-year-old man was standing “in the 5200-block of West Adams Street” when at least one person inside a sedan opened fire, striking him numerous times.
The 32-year-old was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Lori Lightfoot pleads with Gov. Abbott to stop sending migrants
Ousted Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who lost her re-election bid earlier this year, has sent a letter to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott pleading with him to stop sending migrants to the Windy City.
Lightfoot argued that Chicago already has 8,000 migrants to care for and lacks the additional shelters and other resources to fully accommodate more migrants in the city, which she says Abbott is doing for political motivations.
In Chicago, authorities reported this week a tenfold increase in the arrival of migrants in the city, where as many as 100 migrants have begun arriving daily and begun sheltering in police stations.
'We are completely tapped out,' she told CNN This Morning on Monday. 'We have no more space. No more resources. And frankly, we're already in a surge. We've been seeing over the last week two to three -- 200 plus people coming to Chicago every single day.'
