No one is "required" to do anything, the entire agreement is non-binding. It was written so the US could set our own goals.
There is nothing that pays other countries billions of dollars.

You can't lead the world when you walk away from the table. Leaving makes us look like uneducated idiots. Leaving diminishes the US on the world stage. We are handing the global leadership on new emerging energy solutions to the Chinese. That does not serve US interests.

ah so we're worried about how we look not about whether this is a good agreement that forces all the worlds polluters to clean up .

if leading in this area means we lose 6.5 million jobs while china and india are allowed to ramp up their coal burning until 2035 then it sounds like the leadership lost occurred when we negotiated this deal.
