Actually, once I learned the offensive nature of the word "", as a child in the Deep South, I never used it again, and accept the consequences if I choose to use it. I have black grandchildren (one of which I am raising) and great grandchildren. Their melanin content is irrelevant.
In the same way I try to treat others with respect, I expect respect in return. Disagreeing does not require being disagreeable.
