You can protest any time and any place, they just choose to do it during the anthem which is about the cost of our freedom. Like I said, not well thought out if they weren't intending to offend.
Explain to me why anyone would be offended.
They're kneeling. If anything, wouldn't that be MORE respectful?
Yeah, or you can just continue enjoying your constitutional freedoms.
Because without Trump we wouldn't have "constitutional freedoms"? Wut?

The anthem brings to mind the wars fought and loss of lives to gain independance and preserve our freedoms. Its impossible to fathom the cost and loss so many gave to have that. Just because we have freedom to do what we want doesn't always mean we should. Many in my family served in the military. Growing up I helped mark graves with flags for Memorial Day, I have had an understanding of what it cost at an early age. There is a time and place for everything.

I guess you could research the Star Spangled Banner and see for yourself what its about and also see there are 3 more verses to it. I guess I grew up in a time and more importantly an area where a sense of history and pride in our country was important.

I know the history of the song. It's a strange thing to bring up on your side of this argument considering the racist stuff in the song, and the blatantly racist things that Key said about black people.

You do know where 1812 falls in reference to the Civil War right? Different times than now. Why weren't NFLers and 20/20 hindsight people protesting the anthem all along if that were the case?
