Why does everyone jump up and down at the start of the 4th quarter?

Started during a homecoming game in the 1990's to get the crowd more involved and fired up going into the fourth quarter. Has been a tradition ever since. Can actually feel the stadium shake quite a bit.

Doubt it. Maybe a few minor bumps and bruises from falling. Seats are quite slippery when wet.

Had many more injuries happen back in the 70's when I went to school there from body passing.
