Hurricane Helene: Rumor Response
Help keep yourself, your family and your community safe after Hurricane Helene by being aware of rumors and scams and sharing official information from trusted sources.
"Trump has argued that FEMA has depleted its storm relief funds because it spent much of that money “housing” illegal migrants. His allies have accused FEMA of confiscating property, of making people apply for help, of asking for cash donations, and of preventing everyone from Elon Musk to the Department of Defense from helping out with the response efforts. Virtually all of them have pushed stories insisting that Kamala Harris told storm victims they could get only $750 in aid. (That’s just one type of assistance they can get quickly, not the full amount available.)"And even more amazing is that they're simply stating that they don't have the money to do anything. I have no way to describe just how widespread the catastrophic damage is across WNC , Eastern TN, and southwest VA. If I had to guess it is probably the size of the state of West Virginia.
Put a pause on the outrageous conspiracy theorizing to desperately push a polticial agenda that results in Americans being put at risk? Why would we ever do that??x.com

I don't know about all that, but I can tell you that there has been very little done by any federal agencies in the area (at least on the ground operations). They are finally slowly starting to show up a little a week into it. It was amazing though watching the efforts of all the private helicopter operators in action in the Swannanoa area. Hearts with Hands and Samaritan's Purse also doing a good job. Most amazing though is the mom and pop shop owners along side of the residents of the community coming together to provide what they can even when their own properties have been damaged or destroyed. These are people who could care less what Trump or Harris have to say; they just need help to start reorganizing themselves and what's left of their communities."Trump has argued that FEMA has depleted its storm relief funds because it spent much of that money “housing” illegal migrants. The Bulwark
With hurricane Debby, FEMA came through for me surprisingly quickly. I was shocked. From the day I filed, until I got a check in my mailbox, was eight days.Hurricane Milton will be making landfall around Tampa this week.
I fully expect FEMA to fall flat on it's face , again.
That’s what I needed to hear. Finally something positive. With hurricane Debby, FEMA came through for me surprisingly quickly. I was shocked. From the day I filed, until I got a check in my mailbox, was eight days.
Stop it. We’re trying to hide the crazy and just enjoy the evening. It’s been a long week.FEMA doesn't have any money left. Spent it all buying Trump bibles.
That’s messed up.
