HOFFA , HALL AND OBRIEN campaign announcement

Screwed over? Industry leading pay and benefits and you feel that you are "entitled" to more?

My pension will be there when I retire.

It may not be there for my younger co-workers.
That's the problem. All those generations of Teamsters fighting for what we have now. Code 05 and screw the future generations of Teamsters is what we have currently. Take a nickel today and lose a dollar tomorrow.

Ive,

Part of the problem, is the majority of UPS Teamsters have little or any exposure

to the previous generation of Teamsters. They don't go to meetings or get involved.

Thats a big reason.... why Freight members have such a contentious opinion about them.

They think UPS people are a bunch of spoiled brats.... with a huge sense of entitlement.

It's great the company makes money. Thats what provides, for everyone.

But to think, that somehow that requires them to give it all to the hourly employees....

Is short sighted, and naive.

We try to get the newbies involved and befriend them not treat them like a second class person.
Guess their is enough of us old timers who still care, trying to pass down to them what was passed down to us.

...and no one can fault you for doing so.....what you and the other old timers need to realize is that the career UPSer, whether hourly or management, is slowly becoming a thing of the past...

I look around during the PCM at some of the newbies and know that most of them will not work here for the majority of their adult lives like you and I have. To them this is just a job.

Good point. But I didn't spend my entire adult life here,to watch it get flushed.

And I didn't try to be a good union member,to get sold out.

The majority were happy with their contract and Hoffa, if he decides to run again, will win in a landslide as there will not be a viable candidate to run against him.

I personally believe that he will decide not to run. He is 73 and his health is not the best. It's not like he needs the money (or the aggravation).

The days of a Joe Union running the Teamsters are thankfully behind us. We need someone with the business acumen to deal with the major employers, including UPS, not someone who will stonewall any efforts at compromise.

Would I have been upset that a contract that I had voted no on twice was the contract that I am now forced to abide by? Absolutely but an impartial person would be the first to tell me that the IBT did what was right for the majority of the members.
Too bad it wasn't 6 for 1 with a 4 yr progression when you were HIRED OFF THE STREET.

Thats a valid observation.

But, the reasons.... are what is debatable.

My Local has one of the (22 ?) actual Hubs, in the US.

The company averages a 85% turnover rate in part-time employees.

When you see them bring in groups 10.... any veteran employee....can look at the group,

and gauge that 9 out of 10 will quit within 1 year. Some quit at break, or within a week.
